I think the invite, or rather invite to register your interest is a US only thing, here I think you just need to have 50 hours gameplay and have NSO for the last 12 months. Could be totally wrong though.

I posted the UK requirements to be able to pre-order one a few pages back, you have to have had 2 years unbroken subs to Nintendo online, have a current active one, with an unspecified amount of active game time (which you're sharing the data of with Nintendo) and have email marketting enabled.

I'm just going to assume I haven't kept up with the top % of dedicated Switch players in the UK and won't be making that list. I think there may have been a several day gap in my online membership so I'm probably discounted that way as well.

The controller will be available for others after the switch 2 launches I assume, and I'll grab the Mario Kart World bundle from Amazon when the listings drop.

Nintendo Japan site came back up at 3pm today. Getting various errors when I try to reserve it. Sometimes it's "not able to check your eligibility", other times I get to checkout but it craps out.

There's no rush, so I'll wait until everyone else has stopped hammering the website.


Some good news, though: Nintendo added a paragraph to say Mario Kart World will be Y3,000 if you buy it at the same time as the international model. Phew!

Just occurred to me, with Nintendo upping the price for switch 2 games will the flavour of the carts change? They should make them spicy this time around which would go with the red borders on the box, switch 2 now with Carolina reaper.

At 4:16 you can briefly see Switch 2 playing alongside Switch 1 for comparison - at 4:21 you get a shot of the Switch 2 against the Switch OLED

Am genuinely surprised that EE don't appear to be trying to hawk a phone + 5G data plan with their Switch 2 pre-orders!

Heads-up: EE will take full money at point of order instead of point of shipping.
