I do really want Mario Kart World though. That looks brilliant. I just don't want to fork over £430 to play it.

Same. Can't see me getting one of these this year tbh unless a few other "must haves" get announced for release before Christmas.

Disappointing re the lack of OLED too. Kind of makes me think I'll hang on to until that gets released as an upgrade in a few years.

Edit: although having just checked, the OLED version of the original Switch came out four and a half years after the original release so it quite probably will be more than a "few" years. Oh well.

If there was a theme yesterday, it was forking over once again for old ****. A lot of old PS5 software, a couple of GameCube ISOs (including Wind Waker, which they already did an HD version of on WiiU!), a remaster of frickin Bravely Default - a 3DS game - of all things, the very first Ridge Racer, and the chance to rebuy/pay to upgrade a few Switch 1 greatest hits.

One of the few entirely new pieces of software appears to be a way of spending a tenner in order to look at tool tips about the various types of metals and plastics used in the construction of the Switch 2.

That about sums it up. Honestly, I didn't really expect any more. My expectations were fairly low for software. If it does well, I don't see software being an issue later but it will take time. The paid upgrades seem really unimpressive to me. Even a game where they had time to plan for this, such as Metroid 4, doesn't actually seem to have any actual work done to the upgrade - it just looks like it's rendering the same thing with the extra power. So I struggle to work out why that should be a paid upgrade.

Mario Kart World does look lovely though.

There was no reality in which I wouldn't get a Switch 2. I will have one. Not sure I'll preorder. I'm not in a massive hurry. But I know I'll end up with one.

This might have been clear in the direct (I kind of dipped in and out) but on these Switch 2 editions, how does that work physically? For example, with Metroid Prime 4, is it a specific Switch 2 card in the box? Or is it the exact same cart but with some code or something for the upgrade?

What I'm wondering is, if you have a game that has a Switch 2 upgrade, can you share that game or does everyone need to pay for the upgrade to use it?

Factoring into what might happen down the line - Switch consoles are being manufactured in Vietnam and Cambodia, both of which have been hit with 46-49% tariffs by the US meaning that this might be the cheapest time to buy one

I can't answer your question but it does me reflect on how complicated buying games has become

Yeah, I mean, I'm the same really. Once there's a good clutch of must-have stuff I've got no doubt I'll eventually get one.

And if I had money coming out of my ears, I'd get one day one.

I'm just not feelin' it for the outlay required right now though, personally.

That Bananza box art is really nice. I like DK's new look better than the old, too. I also think Mario Kart World has great box art and I love the design of its logo.
