Every game must be released for both the Series S and the Series X. That's Microsoft's requirement.
The Series S version of any particular game will run at a lower resolution and target a lower framerate, and everyone will perceive that as natural. Obvious, even, much as PC games will perform differently depending on the hardware that's running them.
In Baldur's Gate 3's case, lowering performance wasn't enough. For a certain feature to be implemented, more development time and external assistance were necessary. Most people were under the impression cutting the feature entirely wasn't an option, when apparently it is.
I've also read complaints that because game development has the PS5 and the Series X in mind, downscaling a game to meet the Series S' hardware limitations is something some developers won't have the resources to do or won't care enough to bother.

I note that Metro.co.uk aren't getting one which I agree with as they're gutter trash.

Drama already
Some streamer apparently broke the review embargo with a "boundary reached" vid and its been blowing up, as it seems planets load in chunks, Reviewers playing it are quick to defend it so its most likely not a problem as you can fast travel to a new chunk of the planet or go elsewhere.

I'm sure we'll see Skyrim in space with some added systems, better graphics etc and that's all I ask for. It does seem like fanboy people want it to fail.
The Digital Foundry getting code and being told that they were not to share with Eurogamer was still a bit strange.
We will hear all about it tomorrow. I don't see this game getting less than late 80's metacritic score.
Looking forward to playing it and joining the the Galactic Brotherhood.
