100%, if a SOP lands in the coming week without a solid VR presence I'll start to get mindful because it feels unlikely that another one will be released so soon after. Really, you'd expect one to coincide with the headsets first anniversary. That pretty much would just leave March then but it then starts to feel like Sony would just do a standard third party one and would be stepping back from it themselves Vita style

State of Play | January 31, 2024 - YouTube
Not a bad selection. Metro and silent hill have me interested

Jan24 State of Play, my takeaways,
Dragon Dogma 2 is a PC buy for me, love that they added job/weapon swapping, really opens up a ton of variety and finally a Spear.
Death Stranding 2, looking forward it, they showed enough gameplay around usual nonsense cutscenes that appeals to why i like the first game. 2025 is along way off though.
Ronin impressed me, seems to have alot of variety and some added dynasty warriors mode. Wasn't on my radar but it certainly is now.
Korean Nier Automatia copy Stellar Blade, looks ok enough for generic action rpg.
VR fantasy game Legendary something looks alot of fun
Judas just looks fake as hell, reminds me a lot of the trailers for atomic heart, also seems Ken Levine can't make anything over than ad Shock game and have another copy of Elizabeth with a grey wig.
Silent Hill 2 looks bad.
Helldivers 2 looks really bad at 30fps, they should put it back in the oven till a performance mode is given.
Foamstars will be DOA

Dragons Dogma 2 looks fantastic.
Death Stranding 2 looks utterly jaw dropping but based on how wacky it is and how little O cared for the original it's not for me.
V Rising I thought looked really cool.
Stellar Blade just looked overall pretty boring and didn't really do anything for me.
Rise of the Ronin - really cool setting and overall looks solid but graphically looks really average.
Foamstars - Oh dear.
Silent Hill 2 - Looked ok but doesn't look like it's going to hit the highs we've seen with stuff like the Resident Evil remakes.
Hell divers 2 - Looked fun enough, still want to see more though.
Judas - Absolutely my thing and I'm sure it'll be great.

For me the SOP showcased exactly what was discussed a few pages ago. If PS5 is primarily your system then it quickly looks like enough to play is on the way as usual. As soon as your playtime spans more formats the line up spreads thin until you get to the point where you're looking mostly at Sony themselves in which case they're absolutely asleep at the wheel. Third parties are either doing or being paid to do all the heavy lifting, making up for Sony's own studios who at this point are AWOL. Stellar Blade looked like it's at least aiming to be more than a simple action title with butts but I'm not sold that it will prove to wow yet.
I never really clicked with Death Stranding, its wandering gameplay felt dull too often and the story/cutscenes were utter guff so this trailer heavily focusing on the latter meant I just wanted it to end. I'm not seeing the appeal of Helldivers 2 either.
Judas is harder to pin, in theory it's what I would want to see release but it's multiformat anyway and seems to be not imminent.
Rise of Ronin looked dated AF. Legendary looked rough as well, not sure if it was how they captured the footage or what then finally the 'announcement' by Kojima was shrug, hard to get excited by him trying to topple his own creation when it won't release this side of 2029 and MGSV was already a million miles away from what I liked about the series. Him immediately placing the focus on movies and film studio production put that mindset back in place that his focus remains nowhere near where it needs to be.
However, whilst I wasn't sold on Silent Hill: A Short Message the reveal that it's free was nice. Silent Hill 2 Remake looks nice even if I don't think the combat heavy focused trailer was the right pitch. The real star of the show and one to watch was easily Metro: Awakening VR even if it felt like it too was acting as compensation for the fact that Sony's own silence on PSVR2 is as deafening as it is becoming for PS5.
Interesting to see a second State of Play is lined up for next week. Rebirth is a game to be excited for, I'm not really anticipating a third State of Play though to address the headset elephant in the room. Which leaves me again hoping it won't be long till we find out more about Metro and whether it's a short experience title or if we might actually have a significant campaign VR game on our hands, I suppose whether it's PSVR2 exclusive or not too. So yeah, circling back to that opening POV. PS5 continues to have both a solid line up and yet also easily the weakest of the big three. Now to wait for June's announcements.

When he says next generation I truly believe he means PlayStation 6
Until Dawn sounds like they might have added some new story choices and locations
Metro: Awakening VR is a prequel to Metro 2033 set 5 years prior and it took a hot minute for the lone PSVR2 win to be taken away from it...
Also releasing on Quest and PCVR
