I’m not saying it didn’t cost X amount but in all my years working in games & software, I’ve always had difficulty knowing how much the project or product has cost to make, the more senior I’ve got.
For 1 game I worked on, even I knew how much it cost and how much it sold as I heard through the grapevine. Years later, I bumped into 2 guys who should have knew the numbers, and when conversation shifted to sales I said that it cost X and sold more than Y. One of the people I was speaking to said bollocks it didn’t sell that while the other said no, it cost less and sold more.
When even the Developers don’t know / remember, I wouldn’t trust any website or individual like them. Even when you see an internal document, attempting to cost such a long running project is difficult and well guarded.
The one part of the video above that rung true and a term I’ve not heard coined before is toxic positivity. That’s a good one and considering the failure of the project, feels like something I’ll be using to describe countless feedback meetings in the future. 😅
