I think it looks great in the PS1 livery, now to decide between the special and regular.

Im guessing the scalpers will be warming their ddos programs up already in anticipation to crash the site and grab every unit

I quite like it, although in reality I think with the size of the console it would be a bit too much grey. The actual PS5 itself is I feel a bit too ostentatious, and always has been. The problem with these retreads is they’re too behoven to original design or colour scheme. A compromise between the two might work better, reflecting modernity with a retro twist.

Doesn't look too bad tbh. Never liked the PS5 design but this does make it look less like some AI render of the infinium labs Phantom.

I still don't know what you would play on it.

Scalpers are at it already, been a few people on Reddit claiming they can lock down the Sony site and buy as many as they want to hoover the stock up (probably partially true), while others are claiming their going to ddos the website the second its online.

Others have been putting up eBay listings already.

This sort of stuff needs to be sold through the console only, and to only people with long standing PSN accounts, 1 per account, the general web just ruins anything like this instantly.

100% ... after the std PS5 launch situation you'd hope they'd make some effort to prioritise the loyal fans over scalper scum.

PlayStation direct is going to be an absolute blood bath on Thursday, apparently it’s all being put up at midnight, so I’m going to have to be up all night next Wednesday to get in quick enough.

Sony's prioritisation of its own site has been a bane of launches all this gen.
I'll no doubt feel the pull in the moment next week but I've landed on the skip side for Pro. It'll be easy as to pick up once the dust settles and I'm going to treat it like buying an album - I'll wait for a few hits to prove it's worth picking up rather than get it blind on day one. I've really struggled to think of games out or on the way that make it worthwhile as things stand.

That would stiff me out if I wanted one, unless I go and buy a regular PS5 so that I can buy this one. They could just take orders for a limited window before or around the anniversary. Everybody who wants one gets one. If you missed the anniversary then you don’t really lay claim on anything. That would be fair. The machine would still be limited in number.

It’s supposed to be a celebration. Instead it’s just going to piss people off, mainly their hardcore fans as well.

Sony need to look to what they do with limited sales events like trainers and concert tickets a sweeps-stake where you can’t enter unless you have an active playstation plus membership would stop the scalpers in their tracks.

I loved the 20th Anniversary PS4* and really wanted one but couldn't get hold of one for RRP.

Really like this too. Not enough to buy another whole PS5, but I think the colour scheme looks absolutely great and I love the kitchen sink approach they've taken with the whole idea. The box art on the boxes is brilliant as well.

What really works for me about this is that it is a proper special edition, but actually looks nice, rather than tacky, as well.

If I didn't own a PS5 at this stage for whatever reason I'd absolutely be looking to pick one of these up.
