I find the whole "Pro" naming objectionable. It implies that people who find this product out of their price range are somehow unworthy, utter horse****!
Its a premium product targeted at those who have the disposable income and are fine with being manipulated into believing they are better than others.

You say that, but the stats don’t lie, 75% want 60fps. I recon on pro at the very least Sony will force this on Rockstar.

There doesn’t appear to be any more CPU power in the Pro so unless the game is seriously GPU limited it’s unlikely to happen. Maybe Sony have some plans to introduce a frame generation component to their upscaling tech but from a 30fps base that could be rough.

The Zen 2 cores are absolutely going to be a bottleneck in the Pro in some situations.

The whole "buy it for GTA6" angle is a weird one to me... This console is out in November and GTA6 has the potential to cop another delay, perhaps even into 2026.

Plus there is zero guarantee Rockstar will even push for a 60fps mode unless Sony throw them absolute tonnes of cash to make that happen.

I say this as someone who is currently playing RDR2 on PC because the consoles versions are still stuck at 30fps and that game was released in 2018.

If you're planning on buying a Pro, I'd suggest getting the add-on drive whilst they're still in stock before they're bought up by eBay scalpers, given the Pro doesn't have one included.

GTA6 is likely to push the CPU so Pro can't help there, Sony won't push 60fps either, GTA is too big for everyone. Plus, gamers might have shown a strong preference for performance mode but that's very different to refusing to buy a game because it's 30fps.

That the reveal was reliant on PS4 games and launch era titles is very likely a strong indicator of how limited the tech will be.


GTA6 - 1080 to 1400p at 30fps
Pro - 1440 to 2160p at 30fps

PC in 2026 - 60fps 4K for higher end machines

2028 - GTA6 Enhanced at 4K 60fps on PS6


Rockstars business model is very transparent.

DF take a look and the overview is that the system is an awkward proposition that raises questions about what to expect next-gen. They say it may lack the power to deliver consistent 60fps in titles like Space Marine 2 and when GTA6 at 60fps is mentioned the word miracle is deployed.

I upgraded PS4 to PS4 Pro and Bone to Bone X. But both of those had plenty of games I wanted to play, and weren’t outrageous in their pricing. PS5 has far fewer games I want to play, and is ridiculously priced, so I’ll stick with the base model.

So the new update for the Amateur is bringing personalized 3d audio with it.
It’s only taken about 4 years.
I’m looking forward to trying it with my Pulse Elite headset. I’m still so impressed with the sound from these headphones. Planar magnetic drivers for that price sounded to good to be true but they really do sound great.
Dolby Atmos for headphones on Xbox is good but I’m hoping this is a step up.
