Just try all drivers, you don't need to run the installation package, just unpack
the installation package's and install the drivers directly at device manager.

When you record benchmarks it's a good idea to see how smooth the game 'feels'
too, often a smooth feeling game (irrelevant of fps average) is best.

With VSync on you take a performance hit because the graphics are drawn better.

Ive decided not to use the new drivers yet because ive heard too many bad things about them.

It seems thats' there's nothing i can do about the tearing problem and ive got no chocie but to lose frames.

I will have to excpet it and i'm sure a few other's will too.

It's a pitty that they did'nt mention the tearing in the benchmarks though isn't it ?

It does'nt matter if i run the game at 60hz or 85hz it looks just as bad to me.

I'm getting tearing bad also, but this is at the start before the action has even begun which is a little bit worrying considering I've got a P4/3.2 and a Geforce 6800GT! Running at 1024*768 with everythign on except anti-aliasing [which on a game this dark is pretty pointless]

will have a fiddle with some of the options tonight.

[oh and my US copy turned up this morning :]

Neil - where did you order your US copy from mate?

Just ordered 512mb RDRAM so I can play this beauty, found it for dead cheap (?150)

Just need a graphics card to play it with now...

has anyone had a play with settings using the timedemo demo1.demo command as a benchmark

its confusing the hell outta me

the first time i run it no matter what settings, its utter ****e and jerky as hell

any times after that it works "fine" and shows more/less fps depending on what settings i have on, although last night i got this

              1024 x 768 @ high = 32.9fps (****ty first Run)
              1024 x 768 @ high = 41.9fps
              800 x 600 @ high = 29.7 fps

              so i cranked it upto 1024 x 768 @ high and i got 60.1fps WTF ???

              ive got:

              3200+ 400FSB Edition
              1024mb Pc3200
              Radeon 9800 pro @ 418/366
              Catalyst 4.7 & Direct X 9.0c

im f00ked if i know what settings to run on, its all arse over tit... it appears the fps is just random, unless its got problems changing the resolution when you actually tell it too... anyone with similar specs, what do you get ??

I hear the 4.8 BETA drivers solve any Doom 3 discrepencies.

It might not have been though, but it's been bandied about in IRC at least :P

I'm using 4.8 cat beta's and dx9.0c and getting great results on a med-high end rig.

very impressed with the game so far although damn it's hard to see sometimes.

                        nice

no v-sync.you dont need any of that on todays games, they look great anyway.
