Was at first with V-sync of but when enabled i it, its perfect. Cut scenes are at 60fps and in game i range any where from 30fps-60fps.

Ive only got it at 1024x768.

Ive have evrything set to full on UT2K4 and i have no problesm with that or any other game.

I hate having to lose 20 fps over this. (:

IMO this is a flaw and none of the benchmarks mentioned this.

Is screen tear a TFT trait or does it affect CRT monitors?

Yeah, I've got some screen tear which is weird as the rest of it is running smooth.

          What am I doing wrong????

            @ Shin Gouki

I'd guess Doom 3 is a bit more processor intensive than UT2K4 mind ( but then what the hell do I know, I'm not an expert )

Your system specs sound more than OK. Have you tried it without the AA and AF ? As a long shot your not using a program to lock refresh rates ? I noted the game defaults to 60 Hz when running.

I thought v-sync just caps your fps, not lowers it.

yep v sync lowers your frame rate but it also gets rid of screen tear.

Ive tried to live with it but it's too bad on the cut scenes and stops the game form looking solid.

Without Vsync on a get 58 fps

I dont think so. Wait untill you get further into the game p)

Do you still have 4 times anti alasing on? Also can I ask why?

Bump it up to 1280*whatever or 1600*1200 and turn anti alasing all off, in the graphics card options and in the game. Thats what I am playing it as and it looks fantastic and I don't get any screen tearing.

so you think it's anti aliasing that;s causing the screen tear?

what is your spec and what settings are you using exactly?

what refresh is ur monitor at? with v synch the game will run at the same fps as the refresh rate of your monitor. Doom3 is capped at 60fps, I really dont understad why you would get such a low fps with vsynch on.

                                Ok guy's,

At 1024x768 85hz, everything up high, with all effects on, no AA and 8x AF i get 44 fps with V-sync on.

Same as above at 1280x1024 60hz i get 42 fps.

With out V-sync on i can add 4x AA to that and get 58-60 fps.

i'm using the directx 9.b drivers and thelatest Nvidia drivers (not the beta ones)

Ive heard that you get a big frame rate boosts in Far cry if you use these new beta drivers and dx 9.0c so do you reckon that i should try them?

PS what drivers are you lot using?
