I've got a black 120gb. I prefer the older 30/60/80gb white/black plastic models but I find the battery life on the newer ones is better (the extra ram helps keep the hard drive quiet, but only if you don't skip songs very often). The newer ones have the fancy graphics and stuff that just slows things down a bit, whereas the old ones were a lot more nippy in actual use.

I actually use about 30gb on the ipod itself for music but the main reason I upgraded was because the new 120gb models can be controlled with the iphone headset so I can do all the volume, playing and track-skipping while the ipod is in my pocket.

Shame they're slightly slower. I won't notice though due to not having one before. This one on amazon has 160gb. Is this the latest model?

There is one on there that is 120gb too but it is 5pound dearer.

The original iPod classic capacities were 80GB and 160GB - the 80GB were slim while the 160GB ones were pretty fat. The later 120GB model came in the same slim casing as the 80GB but with a larger HDD. You can look up pics of the difference on Google.

You'll be fine. And yeah it's a bit confusing but it seems they've gone with just the one size now, which is good in theory but not when it looks like the previous ones! (they did it before, where the 60gb was replaced by an identical-looking 80gb).

The way to tell is this: The slightly older 80 and 160gb models come in black and light silver, the newest 120gb one is dark grey

According to wikipedia after the 160gb model was originally dropped it and the 80gb replaced with 120gb it was then upgraded to 160gb again. what's going on! lol

              You're right! Now there's a 160gb one that's the same size as the 120...

                Yep, it went:

                80gb (slimmer) and 160gb (fat)
                replaced with
120gb (same slimmer size as 80gb) for cost cutting, ie only 1 body to manufacture.

This was later replaced by the (current) 160gb which I reckon is in the same body also.

Mine is the 120gb black one, I wish you still got them in white, I love my old 4th Gen clickwheel monochrome screen iPod, if only it hadn't died one me

Also, if anyone has a recent classic and is suffering from tracks oddly skipping mid way (ie plays half the song then moves on to the next) I managed to solve this with a defrag, though my iPod seems to have lost Genius now too

That's my bad guys, had no idea about the bump to 160GB. That's awesome though. I love that Apple still make a super high capacity player.

Hi guys! My second (in 2 years) pair of Sennheiser CX's have just gone bye-bye!

Can anyone recommend an alternative? I.e. similar price, spec etc?

Thinking of just getting the CX 400 II's as they're only about ?16 on amazon.

                      **Ignore me, now sorted **

Hope this is the right place to post - anyone here a genius when it comes to itunes?

Basically I have a slight problem - I have my music on one drive in a folder, but all my apps etc seem to be saved in the my documents folder on my C drive. Is there any way I can move the apps and other stuff to the same location as my music - so making a back up would be simple as everything is in one location?!

Thanks in advance, hope that makes sense too!

I've searched (although not extensively) regarding this and asked in an Apple Store (not that they know much more than the script they're given) before and it appeared there isn't a way. It's annoying as I'd prefer to have everything on an external drive.

Actually, some people might say you don't need to back up apps as you can always download them again, but I don't think there's a way to see a simple complete list of all apps you've purchased in iTunes and there are also cases (e.g. if an apps been pulled) where this won't be possible.

Hi r3z thanks for the input

I actually managed to sort it following this tutorial I found online. Took a while and a bit of fingers crossed, not quite sure it was going to work doing, but it worked out rather well I've now managed to consolidate all my tunes and apps together in one place, on a different drive - freeing up loads of space of C!

                          Hope it helps

Could someone recommend the best alternative to the iTunes software for a Windows PC? I've hard about MediaMonkey, is that decent?

Just want to transfer tracks really.

After much searching I think a small program called sharepod is the best. VERY lightweight (you can run it straight off a memory stick if you wanted) and does all the basics well. You can play music from your ipod and make playlists too.

I think I took a look at sharepod but my model of Nano isn't supported. Unless I'm getting programs mixed up.
