You can bet someone will give it a go and sue!

Since it was advertised, not necessarily. However, I can see someone suing Trident because his attempts at transferring music to his pack of gum repeatedly failed and led to his computer's USB ports becoming unusable due to being jammed with gum.

I've not been paying much attention to them until I saw this beauty of a machine today. Last time I looked, though, 1Gb mp3 players were well past ?99; what in that price bracket should I be looking at instead?

I think the Ipod in general is quite cool and I would get one, but the whole battery issue really puts me off them.

Why is $100 (?50) a waste of money? I think it's excellent value for money.

Back to the last pages post, I have my iPod connected to my sound system and it's perfect as long as you have your songs encoded at a decent bitrate, nothing below 192kbps and it'll sound great and I just use the 2 phonos to headphone jack.
I'm thinking of doing that in the S2000 and my head-unit. I've got a multi changer, but a neat little I-Pod Shuffle mounted (probably by velcro given how little it weighs) under the dash would be cool too. I'd just unplug the 2.5mm-Phono and plug into my laptio to upload more tunes. Fantastic.

Cool, let me know what you think of it when you get it Neil - v tempted myself!

Pretty much only use my home PC for iTunes, browsing, and digi photos nowadays, so this could be ideal!

Resonance, the G4 iPod have 12 hour battery life which is quite sufficient... 8 hours on my G3 iPod is ok, so 12 hours should be loads. I wouldn't be too put off by it.

We've got a 1GB MPMAN in work with a 12 hour battery life using AAA batteries, but is slightly larger (from what I can acertain)... I've not used the new shuffle, so I was generalising, but for my needs, the suffle lacks somewhat, and seems expensive with less functionality.

I've got a pair of those Sony Fontopia headphones (MDR-EX71SLB), that have been discussed previously in this thread, for my ipod and bloody good they are to. The only problem being one of the bloody earbuds has decided to disappear off the end of the headphones and the others that come with the headphones obviously don't fit.

So does anybody know where or even if you can buy replacement earbuds for them, couldn't find 'em on the Sony site?

Or alternatively if you've got a pair of the headphones and don't use the medium earbuds, fancy donating them to me, he says hopefully...?

Has anyone used the iTunes Music Store? If so what's the bitrate quality like and what format do the files come in (mp3 or whatever)?

                      Ta.

Dowloads are in MP4 format at 128 kb/sec.

                          Ta very much.

Doesn't really matter now anyway, as I *ahem* aquired the song I was looking to purchase anyway.

Can you create a playlist on an ipod which will automatically add 4 & 5 stars to itself, if I rate them on the ipod?

You can do it easilly via Itunes. Just select new smartlist and set the criteria. It then will update the playlist as you add new songs to your music collection.

So I would have to upload the playlist every time, if I didn't have auto update ipod on?

No big deal if thats the case.
