I haven't had one error and i was a bit worried. Before buying it, i was on a couple of iPod touch forums. People where talking about screens, development dates on the serials etc.. It made me a bit nervous, a bit like when i imported a psp on Japanese launch day...

To test, i've opened all apps on it, used safari, while listening to some music. No crashes, hiccups etc.. Maybe, if anyone is having trouble, try restoring, or hopefully updating when the new one comes out like Taka said)....

I just ordered an 8gb itouch. The one thing im worried about is scratching the screen, as i always keep my old mp3 player in my pocket. How does the screen stand up over time and the quality of it?

They claim the screen's scratch proof, and to be honest, I'm inclined to believe them. I have a rubber case on the rest of my touch, but I've not bothered putting the screen protector on and apart from a few smudges, its as good as new.

I second that. The screen is glass apparently not cheap plastic like you may get on other players. I have a crystal case for mine that includes a screen protector but I don't think it's really needed actually. Just give it a little rub with bit of glass cleaner and it will look brand new every time.

I've just bought the Altec Lansing IM7 Ipod dock, I was so close in going for the Bose dock. Reviews suggest the Altec is equal performance wise, its asthetically horrible compared to the Bose.

I'll hopefully have it by the weekend and I can test it out.

Well i got my new ipod touch today. Its now charging on my pc and itunes is now adding all my files, which is going to take an age. Is there anything i need to do, as it didn't really come with any drivers or anything, how do i go about accessing it etc and how do i know when its charged?

No drivers required iTunes takes care of it all. The battery meter will show it's full up when it's ready.

After being on itunes for a couple of hours working out how to get the most out of the way i like using it. I converted some videos itunes found on my computer, but when i put it on my touch, there wasn't any audio. anyone have an idea why that could be?

Also any program recommendations and also how do i go about locking it so i dont acually touch the screen when im moving about. also is there any visualisations for when music is getting played.

Alot of questions i know, but im new to the ipod stuff!

Is the audio on the videos aac ? Easy to check, just open one in Quicktime and click window on the toolbar, then show movie inspector (ctrl+I). What did you convert them with...?

As for locking it. Just click the sleep button once it won't come on by touching the screen. Only by clicking the sleep or home button. Even then you have to slide to unlock. Also, you can get quick music menu up, by clicking the home button twice quickly....

No there's no visualizations on it....

Are there any good case recommendations for it, to travel around with while listening to it?

I used itunes to convert my videos. Is there a good program out there that can convert any video to the ipod format?

Not sure about cases. I've got a silicone protector on the way. Really just to cover the back and sides. Something basic...
