A quick question for Hodge (or indeed any Sony KDLS26A12U owner). Does this have a VGA input? I've been searching loads of retailers, and most of them say 'PC input' but I just wanted to make sure they were referring to VGA.

        Hi guyz,
Currently looking around at comet, currys, dabs etc for a great deal lcd tv.
Noticed Dabs had a 32" Sharp the other day as a special of ?617 inc VAT, I was kicking myself the day after when I went to purchase and they decided to put it back up to ?857 inc VAT.
Anyway been looking to buy a branded tv, looking for 32" on the main, but its been hard to find something that tickles my fancy.
Dabs.com have an offer on a 30" NO NAME set, anyone got any comments on this offer? I never believe the dabs site comments as they are normally made up lol, any help appreciatted.

        http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=3TLW

        Thanks in advance.

If I had to guess, it sounds like the overscan has been badly calibrated, and you're seeing the teletext line. By all means send it back to Samsung rather than go for a faff in the service menu yourself; things can get pretty hairy in there.

The S series does like mine but the V series doesn`t, but It`s more geared towards 4:3 resolutions. It does 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x768 (15:9). I`ve tried allsorts but can`t get It to do 1360x768. The image quality Is excellent via VGA though plus you can adjust the backlight on vga for night time viewing aswell.

Nice How come the dearer V series doesn't support VGA Seems a bit of a strange omission.

I'm not hugely bothered about getting a perfect 16:9 format. I'm using a 14" at the moment, so a few inches off the TV won't hurt me (much).

My component cable for the PS2 arrived today and I hooked it up to my Samsung 26" LCD and it keeps saying no signal and sporadically plays game sound (for no more than a second). Does it sound like a faulty cable or am I doing something wrong (the wires are clearly in the right order etc)?

Have you set the PS2's output to Component? It doesn't auto-detect this. (like the Xbox/Gamecube)

You need to start it up without a game and change the output from RGB to YCrCb. (the screen will go green) Turn the PS2 off, switch cables, and it should work.

Damn someone replied before I could delete my stupid post.
I forgot to check the system setup before changing to component. Everything works fine.

                    Thanks

ok did what you said evil borris and it has
                      TV TYPE:
                      DNR
                      OUTLINE SHARPENING
                      DISPLAY

Its plugged in through component cables. Is mine an older model? or does it just do this auto?'

EDIT: Just playing RE4 and why is there like, little squares and lines in the smoke and when you shoot? Also why does it look so poor?

                        Hello .

Just to add another option into the mix, I've just gone and bought a new screen in anticipation of the 360.

Yes it is Hi-Definition, but no its not an LCD or a Plasma.....

                        It's this baby.

Probably the ultimate CRT monitor, 24" Widescreen CRT display (22.5" viewable). I just spied one on Ebay for only ?250 and nabbed it quickly. This suits my needs perfectly. I don't need a TV (although I could use my PC if I wanted to), it has an amazing picture, isn't too big (24" is my limit in my study), I won't have to worry about any problems like smearing, it has near perfect geometry and it'll handle virtually any resolution you can throw at it.

Plus its cheap. ?250 for a 24" top quality Hi-Definition display is a bargain .

I'll report back once it's arrived and I've tried Line of Contact in 720p.

this might sound like a retarded question, but what is the sound quality like from the lcd hdtv's. namely those new samsung ones which are being advertised. i imagine they're quite good.

                          ta.

Its pretty good. Good for a TV. But its like any tv, you really do need a home theatre system. But they are quite good though.

You mean the internal speakers? They're OK I guess as far as internal speakers go, but if you're upgrading to HD visuals, at least put the sound through some decent external stereo speakers

Lovely sound as far as built-in speakers go.
