I agree with that review, through DVD and HD the screen is stunning...however I don't find standard TV is that poor. Not great, but still certainally watchable. Standard RGB is OK too - tried Halo2 and Burnout Revenge and they were both better than what I was used to before (which, admitidly, was with a slight tint of purple).

Not bothered about the sound either as I have my own speakers....so overal...I is happy with my choice

    Can't wait for the 360 though 8)

I certainly felt RGB Scart on the 26LX2R at least was good enough on a PS2 for people not to really bother with a Component cable.

It did emphasise how poor quality most third party Scart cables are though.

They would do the same thing, yeah.

I've personally had bad experience with the former type of adaptor though, but I did use a cheap throwaway one from Comet.

Hmm, I'll have a look in my Dixons tomorrow before taking the plunge and ordering that one then.

I'm looking for a stereo phono lead that is male > female. I cant find one anywhere!? Surely you must be able to get it, all I need it for it to extent the audio from my component switch box so it reaches my speakers! As just now, its running through my tv, then a 3.5mm -> phono lead to the hifi which I'm sure is cutting the quality.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Try Maplins, they're good for all kinds of audio interconnects.

Are your problems with the tuner solved then?

Yeah, got a booster. BBC1 is still a bit naff, but acceptable. Rest are better than before.

reports from america say no letterboxing on hd 4:3 sets- the 360 resizes the screen automatically- but can run in a HD 4:3 resolution?

Can anybody shed any light on this for me?

Yeah I looked it up because I could of sworn that the games were 720p only.

All games are 720p standard, it is then upto the dev if they want a 4:3 mode in it, also the 360 is set by default to display letterboxed/ widescreen. You have to change it to 4:3 in the 360 settings if that is what you want.

Got the top one fom Maplins yesterday (Gold-Plated Two Phono to 3.5mm Stereo Adaptor) Are all 3.5mm connections on a TV minijack? i hope i got the correct connector as it doesnt mention minijack on the package, i just guessed this was the case. I tried it out with my gamecube, but you get no sound unless the video leads are plugged in as well. I know this is the case as i tried to get sound without s-video plugged into the TV. I dont have the component leads for my cube, so i have no way of knowing if its going to work.

Ill just have wait untill i have the 360 to find out, and going by reports from the US the 360 itself may not even work.

Has anyone used a modded-VGA cable on NTSC Gamecube on the Samsung 26?

What are your thoughts? Better than running it off component?

When I tried it on a CRT PC monitor it was absolutely STUNNING. Alas, it wasn't so good on my 19' IIyama LCD TV running via VGA - horrible lines. Was 'good' using component, though, but not as great as I hoped it would be (ie. slightly better than RGB).
