Oh yeah, and I'm a fussy uber-geek lacking perspective.

I just don't want to be the typical grin and bear it British consumer. If I've spent ?600 and there are visible permanent defects on a HDTV screen, I shouldn't feel guilty for sending something back.

    What a mindset.

Don't worry Concept, you did the right thing. You paid a lot of money for something and it was faulty, so you sent it back. Why beat yourself up about it? A week without a TV is nothing compared to a few years cursing stuck pixels.

i dont blame you mate - i asked in the store i bought my tv about dead pixel policy, and he said that the store wouldnt change the set at all ... that was until i said i was going elsewhere then losing them two sales on two lcd's costing over 3 grand. luckily i haven't noticed any dead pixels on either set (i checked them both thoroughly) and now that I have got my settings how i want them i am nothing short of happiness incorporated.

Yeah you did the right thing Concept. When you spend that kind of money on something it should be right. And if your anything like me you'll end up staring at those dead pixels trying to notice them even when you can't.

            Cheers guys.

The problems were evident on moving backgrounds in certain areas too. Not hard to pick up on at all (unlike the PSP where I can forget about problem pixels, these really stood out).

Hopefully it won't turn into a battle of attrition with Play and they'll replace it soon.

It's a fantastic unit. Ignore the smudge and the pixel problems I've had, and I really like the Samsung LE series from what I've seen. RGB is fairly awful, but VGA was amazing and I expect component won't be far off from that.

from the 360 pod i was playing with last week the screen showed no ghosting at all and its was a 26 i reckon

with 8ms response its going to be the business

Im picking up the 37 inch one at the start of next year and i cant wait
Course they would seeing that the deal is beneficial to both Microsoft and Samsung. As for Ghosting the samsungs are pretty good but there is trailing with blacks I found. When I had one I noticed this and with COD2 on the demo pods I noticed the guns on the ground leaving a black trail when you pan the camera. But for the price you can`t fault them.

Yeah I've seen that on mine, but I assume thats just standard fare on LCD screens?

Although I don't own one personally, it DOES have a HDMI socket guaranteed. It's amissing VGA though, so might not be ideal to hook up to your PC.

The tx-32lxd52 does have the HD Ready logo as well, so the HDMI connector can't just be a one-off for that display model.

I was thinking about getting that very TV for my in-laws, but the lack of VGA is mildly annoying. Should they be looking at the Samsung again after all (I'd rather gone off it, as I prefer the picture on the Panasonic), or is there something reasonably cheap that can be done about it (e.g. transcoder to component)?

So if you can use a component to vga cable to run stuff, for example, from a component dvd player to a toshiba (27wlt) vga input, does it work the other way?

Could I buy the panasonic 52 (I like these sets but the 500's are out of my price range for only a few more features) and run a vga output from my powerbook to the component input on the panasonic?
