I take it that this problem is common to all Pal 720p content over HDMI (on the LG)? I can't for the life of me find my HDMI lead to try my Oppo through it, pretty concerning if that's the case because what the hell am I gonna do when SkyHD hits?

SkyHD is going to be Component initially anyway.

My Oppo works fine over HDMI, 720p and 1080i in both 50 and 60Hz... but the Oppo doesn't use HDCP so...

        Fella's, fella's, fellas

Been reading through this thread for an hour now and ive gotten myself confused, if someone could answer me a few Q's i'd be really grateful

        1) Where in the UK can i get the OPPO OPDV971H 1080i HDTV-Ready Divx DVD Player? or am i limited to importing from the US?

        2) Can you reccomend a 42" Plasma that is both 720p and 1080p 'ready' and can be used with a miniMac and SKY HDTV for less than 1500 quid

If this isnt posible, whats the best 720p VFM Plasma for under 1500.

Im using it for SKY HD, My Mac and games (In the future)

        Thanks guys

I'm also interested in knowing where i can source this DVD player. I'm getting the 26" LG in a couple of weeks (out of stock at ED) and would prob get the oppo over the samsung DVD player to avoid any problems.

I have a question, a few of you guys have commented on the VGA input on the LG but it lacks a VGA socket. I assume you guys are using a VGA to DVI adaptor and plugging the VGA cables into the DVI input. I was wondering were you guys got your adaptors from?

          Cheers

If the PSM option is set to anything except DYNAMIC there is a humming sound from the top of the TV. No idea why this happens. To check it out press mute and switch between DYNAMIC and any other option and you'll notice it. Obviously not a biggie for normal use but late at night when i've got the volume below 30 its quite noticeable.
Read this yesterday, checked it, and thought it wasnt a big deal. However, was watching some TV just now with sound at 4, and it really is noticeable and very annoying. I also noticed that sometimes it stopped and started, which makes it more annoying.

However, I've managed a short term fix - remember your best PSM settings, go to dynamic under PSM, then press left and change the settings to what you want, the sound will go away. But if you change inputs, it will come back.

Here. Although there was a supplier in the UK (here),but seems to be out of stock - email him to see if he has any in stock and if he does to make you an auction.

A site called ITSupplies is the official UK reseller of the Oppo.

HaHa, i found that workaround as well purely by accident.

Talking to some people its seems that when the backlight is at full power (Dynamic) there is no buzzing from them. At any of the other settings there is some buzz. What is strange though is that if you set the User settings to the exact same as the Dynamic settings you still get buzz. Confused.

Cheers for that dude, It is VERY cheap, i didn't expect it to be only a few pounds. Is this the one that a few of you got, no drop in quality ?

Thanks for the heads up on the cable & DVD player

I dont notice any loss in quality, although I can't compare it to straight into the telly (because there's no vga socket!).

Question for Oppo and LG owners then, does it work through HDMI on the LG's? It should since the Oppo doesnt use HDCP, is that correct? Because when you order it says you need to choose between DVi and HDMI cable and I'm not sure which to get..

Which DVD player is better, the Oppo or the Samsung HD950? Can someone list the main differences between the two?

Edit: Is there any way to input DVI-I leads into a DVI-D socket?

Rossco, the Oppo will work fine connected to the HDMI socket. As you've already said the Oppo doesn't use HDCP so there isn't any problem.

I had a slight annoying case of 'sparkling' over HDMI, which very likely may be the cable. The cable I'm using did come from Oppo though. I'd recommend DVI, keep the HDMI free for something else

Yes, I know, I meant HD content in spanish. Reading english is easy, but hearing it is still quite difficult to me.
