Got my WLT68 today, just set it up and all i can say is Wow! Thank you to everyone on here that steered me in the direction of this TV, the picture quality iis breathtaking, it's even awesome through SD
Running my 360 through VGA, i'm sure i read there's a way to get rid of the inch thick vertical borders at each side of the screen? Can someone point me how i go about it please?

Edit :Now it woukd appear that when i set my 360 to 1360 x 768, i only in fact get a half inch black bar down the left hand side, however when i set the 360 to 1280 x 1024 the screen is filled completly with no black bar down the left
What's the best res for me to set it to?

Set it to 1280x768 and change the aspect ratio to "wide" on the TV (3rd button above red) although Component is just as good, if not better in my opinion.

So people are liking the WLT68 then? I ask cos I will be getting a flat screen something very soon, rapidly helped by the grand odd bonus I should get from work for Xmas. How many component inputs does it have btw, seems just one? Will I ever need 3 HDMI connections you think?

I'm looking into getting a 1080P TV, liking the looks of the 40W2000 and also now the 37/42WLT68 (is the 37" version 1080p?).

Really want decent black levels as that is what is annoying me so much on this Samsung i've got although i have had it for a year and a half now!

I've seen that the WLT68 does 1080P over component, but i'm guessing Andrew that you've set it to 720p because you think the 360 scaler is a bit **** aye?

Really need some advice on this one, it's a lot of cash

andrew any chance I can ask a MASSIVE favour? any chance you could take a pic of either PS2 or GC in 480p?

I ask cos i've found 480p horrible on LCD TV's in the past and am curious to see what the WLT68 is like with it!

              Thanks in advance!

I posted some pictures of Gitaroo man, Final Fantasy 12 and Katamari a few pages back. They are only running in 480i , so judge how good they look then imagine a 480p game running :P

The WLT68s are 1366x768 native, but support 1080p. Unless you're sitting within 4/5ft of a 40" 1080p set, you're not seeing 1080p though, and resolution is one of the least important factors of image quality in my opinion. (to a point)

If absolute black levels (and/or viewing angles) are your main concern, get the BRAVIA, it's certainly better in that regard, but I don't feel it does everything else as well.

yeah I understand that but im pretty much convinced on the WLT68 now!

Those are all 4:3 images being stretched to fit and it still looks fantastic.

That is a 4:3 freeview image
wow, they look class - certainly not the jaggie, blurry mess i've been accustomed to with the Samsung and Panasonic's i've had in the past!

I was stunned when I first tried it, my old samsung looked a right mess. But these look about as close to a CRT in RGB as you can get.

the colour vibrancy is awesome, nevermind the Bravia - you and Andrew have convinced me to go Regza!

SD pretty much looks the same here - colourful, vivid and a lot better than what I was used to in terms of pixelisation.

The Television channel looks wonderful on your last picture, but don't you still find the sharp lines in 480p inferior to 480i RGB on a CRT?

Games are certainly playable now, and the lack of scanlines and clarity of the image on 480p is great, but there's a sharpness about that progressive scan resolution (evident on that Katamari shot) which would be lessened on moving to my 28" 4:3. That's partly why I've kept it, because of the upscale scenario.
