Spent all morning carrying upstairs sheets of Fermacell and timber. Finally on the building now, door frames are up, very exciting

7 days in, 4 behind schedule. Working up to 20 hours a day on it and no end in sight. Thinking it'll be a month until it's done. Now had to return to hospital as I got insulation in my eye, been cleaned once but still a lot of pain. Left 3 friends to carry on in my absence!

safety glasses? i have a custom pair that i wear at work as i wear monthly contacts and wrecking a pair a few days in is costly, but even cheap ones keep stuff out of your eyes...

I've a pair but it was the one time I took them off for 10 seconds it happened

My new flat's got more room so I can space things out a bit more and have some of the older stuff available. Looking forward to putting that together, although the mass of cables that I'm going to have to untangle in moving that lot fills me with dread.
            nice gear
Where did you get shelfs from?

Mr Driller G. Currently without sound for reasons unknown. My other board is fine and there is no volume on the board or in the setup.

I am a noob to the cab owning business so i'm sure i'll figure it out.

I'm planning to run mame on this when i sort out the pc, but i want to do it without any butchery to the cab.

                        I built them myself

with a little help from my dad

. With an afternoon's work it's cheaper than buying comparable shelves and I've got them perfectly built to suit my needs.

                          Nice cab. Missing mine already

I'm still neck deep in building work. Today we started the framework that will hold the projection screen, aiming tomorrow to get all the false ceiling done, except the lights installed (that's looking like Friday when a mate who knows electrics comes back round).

With just a bit of luck, all the big construction elements will be complete by Friday (laying flooring Thurs or Fri, for example) and then it's just a case of cleaning (so much dust everywhere) and painting / tidying.

Tonight I'm off to Homebase as they're the only local place who cut wood, and the very nice guy serving last night cut a 2400x1200 sheet of MDF into about 30 bits for me yesterday so hoping for the same tonight.

I've not played a game in weeks now

I know you've been super busy with all this but you got any before, work in progress and then when done / finished pic's to post up? I love seeing these kind of projects take shape .

I've chucked a few pics up on Facebook:

They're not showing a lot. There was a point last week I kinda freaked out a little, the hall was full of Fermacell and big packs of Rocksilk insulation, we were power sawing the Fermacell and the dust it kicks out made the flat look like a sandstorm had hit, and I got insulation in my eye. I was also sleeping in the hallway, and the plumber had messed up the heating so it was very cold (and still not fixed!). So basically I've not taken too many photos as I never want to relive that dark week again! Was horrible.

There are other pics a few friends have taken that I'll get up eventually.

Only the first few pics are showing the old bedroom which is becoming the lounge, which will be the new home of the consoles so the most relevant for this thread. Tomorrow if we get the screen up, we may manage to mount the TV on the wall (although it was kicked today, so let's hope it's ok!). The shelving unit will take a while to build (56 bits cut at Homebase from 2 sheets of 18mm 2400x1200 MDF, lol). I may be gaming next weekend.....

I am in constant awe of folks with any sort of cab, it is my dream to own one. However, living in a basement flat makes the idea seem impossible at the moment. What makes it harder though is I know our lass would never moan if I suddenly splurged 500 notes on one as she knows I have lusted over one for years.
