Actually some of the shorts are from CRT .but some here are so anal over CRT and Retro that they'll make out they crap if they think they're running of the Framister just to be cool and make out Retro is king . And the 3do display is always crap be that CRT or Framister

You should try RGBing the machine and then doing the 240p mod too then.

If you have access to a CRT then you'd have one, surely?

If you live in Asia where they either don't sell them, or you cannot fit one into your apartment, or both, then you'd get a Framemeister.

            Seems like an easy choice.

            For me, a Framemeister.

Upsides: no bulky CRT, big ass screen
Downside: hiding the payment from wife, can be tweaked to near death levels

I think I rather 'cool' and stick to using 3DO via S-Video the way the developers and manufacture intended for that complete retro experience on my Philips Crt . To be honest though very much like the N64, the 3DO was poor even back in the day and I've sort of got used to it over the years.

The best display comes from the Saturn and the MD- Which outputs the best RBG scart image I've ever seen out of any of the old consoles

It depends . I remember when I just had my 14 inch TV for the Master System and always wanted a bigger TV for that Arcade like experience. Remember when I got the 37 Philips CRT it was it was a nightmare to try and get it through the double glazing door, never mind the small living doorway lol ... I'm much rather playing the old consoles on the 50 LCD to the 37 CRT myself. Plus with the HDMI output it means I can run my Saturn through my Amp even with using RBG Scart which is brilliant for games like Souky and RSG and to me, the Master System looks better running throught the Fram than it does running on CRT

I didn't even know that is possible with 3DO systems. Any more info about that Speedy?

                  Thanks for that. So tempted...

Drifting back on topic I will try to get some more CRT shots tomorrow. Got a calibrated BVM to let peeps see. Have to say some of the LCD & Framemeister shots do look really good.

TA mate get that horrendous colour sorted out. Looks great otherwise.

You have the best CRT tv out of anyone on the board . The Colour setup is fine on the TV (well I like it) Its the Mobile Camera that is really distorting the pictures, any sign of movment and the camera starts to adjust the focus and its always adds colour to a image, it even made Contra Hardcorps running on my CRT look a bit crap and the colours seem pink .

To me the Master System and some of the Saturn games looks far better running on the Frame than on my CRT TV's . I've never tried the DC on the Frame will have to try that over the weekend

The FM has a 'freeze' button, so you can take perfect stills.

I got a US 3DO for my birthday in 1994 - it came with an S-Video to Scart RGB converter box, which gave me a really nice full-screen image. Since losing the converter box, I've used S-Video directly into the TV and it looks quite good. I would say the NTSC 3DO delivers a good quality image, but I haven't used a Pal machine.

Of course, having it modded for RGB would be nice, but I don't think that service is available. I definitely couldn't do it.

I will agree that N64 games can look terrible, but that's mainly down to the horrible bilinear filtering. Doing that to games makes them look really blurry. My original 1996 machine was RGB modded, so that helped. Nintendo games, such as Wave Race and Mario 64 looked nice and clear, but not as sharp as PS1 & Saturn games, simply because the N64 graphics tech gives a softer look.

My ntsc 3do has a pretty good output I'd say, I had asked Speedlolita to do that RGB mod, but seemingly it's not that great.

Am I the only person who finds it funny that some of the framemeister devotees like to knock a crt image when all they're trying to do is replicate what it does?

I found the N64 games still were bad on the Framemeister but that was running through composite, i had a non RGB model .

So i bought a RGB Modded one , and throught the framemeister i think its the best you will get from the machine, all the letters are nice and clear, and Mario 64 looked amazing, but i think i general the n64 blurry textures dont help, having said the F zero is another title that looks stunning on it.

Foe me who does not want a CRT because of the size of them , i think its a stunnig bit of kit, for morden TV,s. and truly a solution for us.
