LVL.20 WAR / LVL.6 THF
Levelling up my sub-job which is better than I expected (tons of gil coming in with THF! Got 9K in the bank)... It was bloody hard though getting to LVL.6 - so many new people on!! You have to get to Dangruf before the ****heads get filtered out by hard monsters that they can't solo.
Here's the plan...
1) LVL THF to 15.
2) Bring back WAR as my main job.
3) LVL WAR to 30 - whilst stealing rare items and selling them in order to fund my advanced job which is going to be...
4) NIN - LVL that to 60 with WAR as my sub-job, or THF for totally uncalled for evasion stats.
I reckon, playing at the rate I am doing (80hrs a week) I should be able to LVL. NIN to LVL.60 in around 14 weeks - That's a first-half of May deadline.
I can't wait until my WAR sub hits LVL.5 - Perfect Dodge + Provoke = t3h wiNn0r!! "I'm provoking you and you can't hit me!! WOO!" That's gonna be a macro that is! Decent warm up for the Ninja skills which I've heard a fantastic.
By the time I get NIN my mates should have started the game as they're all well impressed with it - They'll have a LVL.1 NIN on their team!Last edited by dataDave; 23-01-2006, 09:46.

Mines Schmimes
Well, I played for hours this weekend and got Larcen (my Warrior) up to Level 11. Saw Fallows for a couple of seconds in the Palbourough mines before he shot off in search of more XP - don't think he even heard my shout of NTSC-UK! LOL
Anyway, I'm on mission three which is starting to grate. I have the Torso and Head of whatever it is I have to get to complete Fetchism. I just need the other two bits - legs and arms I guess.
Looks like I'm going to need a party to help me out in the mines. Anyone up for it some time this week? It'll be great to chat while kicking monster backside..... Especially as my wireless HP keyboard now works a treat!

Yeah, my friends have short attention spans also.
Bru, I'll be looking at Palborough tonight if I reach LVL.8/9 - I have a cool party of WHM, BLM, + WAR. We need another warrior to draw enough hate from 2 mages.
As soon as I take WAR as my main job again I'm going for a chocobo.
Tickle, I got in a really good party of Japanese lvl.ing their Subs at lvl.18-20 this weekend around the dunes (mains at 40+)... Stick to Goblins and Ghouls for EXP, combo that ****. A good party that knows about EXP is a must - we were constantly on the move moving camp after each 5 chain to let the previous area re-spawn Mobs. Easily the most EXP efficient party I've been in yet and they didn't speak a word of English. I got from early lvl.19 to late lvl.20 in just under 2 hours. I'm around 600EXP tl 21.
Make sure you purchase the full Lizard gear as well - it's dead cool and everybody examines you.
Ask them to take you to "The Secret Beach". Or, you could tackle the pugels if you have the baws. Tickle Tackle!!Last edited by dataDave; 23-01-2006, 10:43.

The next armor set is the Beetle Gear at lvl21, but it?s worth saving your money for Bastok Conquest gear at lvl 24, it is a Blue and Gold Chain mail Set lots of Def and will Last you till 30. You can either save and buy it from the AH or use Conquest points if your from Bastok to buy them from the NPC Gate Guard, but I think they?ll be RANK3 items meaning you will have to beat the Dragon boss in Mission 2.3 which is a perfect time to do at lvl 24/25 as it?s a lvl capped fight.

Like yourself, I gave some thought to being a NIN/thf (common sense dictates they go hand in hand) but this is not the case. Due almost exclusively to a NIN A- ranking in Evasion skill (second only to THF) and particularly the Utsusemi series of spells, the NIN class has been decided as being a ?tank? (the member of your party who takes hate as much as possible). Whereas traditional tanks (WAR & PLD) do their role by upping their defence to such an extent that they take as little damage as possible, a NIN tank does so by avoiding as many hits as possible by a combination of natural evasion and Utsusemi (Utsusemi is a ninjutsu ?spell? that creates shadow images that will absorb any damage aimed directly at the NIN).
Because of this, NIN/thf is not really a viable job outside of solo play as you need the /war for Provoke to get the monsters attention.
I went up to lvl19 as NIN/thf before I decided to level a WAR sub and I?m glad I did. WAR as a subjob offers so much more (Berserk and Double Attack are especially cool).
Anyway, like I said be warned that the NIN job is incredibly expensive. Not just in terms of equipment (many pieces of gear that are considered essential to do the job well are expensive items, and a poorly equipped NIN is more of a hinderance to the party) but also the costs of Ninja Tools. Ninjas use magic but do not have an MP pool. Instead they use consumable items for each spell. When you factor in the cost of constantly needing to purchase these tools I would say lvl60 in 14 weeks is incredibly optimistic.
Not that I want to discourage people from playing NIN as it?s easily one of the best jobs in the game. Just be aware of the need to make money almost constantly that awaits you.

Subjob offers a slight boost in stats and the abilities and traits of the job at that level, everything but the subjobs 2hr ability.
So level 20 War/monk (with a monk main job levelled past lvl10), so a lvl20 war abilitiy + lvl10 Monk abilities so gains HP boost Trait and Attack Boost ability,
For a Mage its more a case of gaining spells your main mage job can?t learn. As Red Mage you could have White mage sub which would give you a better MND stat and an MP increase, as well as learning WHM only abilities and spells(like Increasing the MP healing tick), which would help you out if you intend to act as Healer/Debuffer. A Black mage sub would off better attack magic and increase your INT and MP.
As you gain levels more and more Abilities will open up for both your main Job and sub job, as a 75 Sam/thf I have
lvl75Samurai Traits ?
Mediate (100tp in 10sec)
Third eye (free physical attack dodge)
Demon Killer
Demon Killer stat for the party(short use)
Zanshin (free swing with no delay if I miss)
Resist Blind
+ lvl37 thief
Sneak Attack (Major Critical Damage on next physical attack)
Trick Attack (Hate management, fool the monster in to think someone else did the damage)
Steal
Flee
Mug
Treasure hunter 1
Gil Finder
Resist Gravity
