Last night was limit break 2 for me; 14 people in the alliance, 11 of which needed it (51-55) and three people at 60-62.

Things got ugly as one of the members was continually causing problems - that Rydus guy who has been mentioned here before. He was a monumental pain in the ass, kept bringing us aggro and then running away once we were fighting, only to bring us even more. The final straw was when he was away on his own, got demon aggro, and one of our nearby lvl 60 guys provoked it off him. Rydus could have stuck around to cure him, but instead he ran away again. The level 60 guy died. Rydus got kicked out of the alliance (this was after only 1 of the key items had been obtained.)

Harsh, but fair.. however the next move by the alliance pushes the bounds of decency I reckon (I still laughed though!) - after some discussion they decided it was pointless as he could still get the key items if he tailed along with us.. so they invited him back to the group. Then they warped him back to Jeuno and kicked him out again!

So the quest on a whole was total mayhem really, glad to have got it done though.

        Thats genius

Sounds like you had about x100 more fun than I had in the Dunes. 3000exp in 4 hours and all the bad stuff that can possibly happen did. Only plus point was that I didn't get a link all night when pulling. 15 can't come soon enough (and probably won't!)

LoL, Rydus is the biggest bell-end on the server, if it was all an act then it would be quite funny troll, but he does this stuff all them time which makes its very, very sad the way he acts.

he made it on my black-list after messing-over an ENM wedge and i where in, and i've never forgotten how much of tit he is.

Sometimes this game smiles on you and grants you a weekend that couldn?t go any better for you.

Saturday morning I got up and had no great desire to farm but still headed over to Korroloka Tunnel to whack on some Jellys. My intention was to get 7 stacks in the morning and another 7 later in the day. Droprates were incredible though and in a short time I had 9 stacks in less than 3 hours. Considering I was able to sell some stacks for 25k and the rest for 22k that was a nice gil/hour ratio. I then helped Moot obtain 2 keys for his Kazham Airship Pass and returned to Jeuno to log out for a short time. I don?t know what possessed me to log back on when I did but it was good that I did.

I checked the AH, more out of routine than expecting a Sairen to be listed so when there was a tiny 1 next to the listing my heart rate jumped. The majority of the price history were 2.5m but the most recent was 2.7m. In my panic I didn?t even try to get it for a lower price I just stuck 2.7m in and it was finally mine. Katana number 1 of the 3 I wanted was mine.

Rest of the evening was spent with a little farming, I popped open the Kuftal Tunnel coffer for the zone map and tried to help Daragon with his AF1 in Crawler?s Nest but in about 2 hours of waiting it only rained once and the drop from the elemental we did kill was high lotted by another person in the PT who needed the item.

However despite that disappointment, I had Sairen. Life was good

I did state that once I had Sairen, I would no longer need to spend all my in game time farming and planned to vary my activities somewhat. The plan is to have a day camping NMs (for equipment I need), a day crafting (Woodworking from 42 to 60 and Alchemy from 0 to 60), and finally a day farming. Hopefully the 3 day cycle would be something I could stick to.

Sunday was to be the first NM camping day and I set my sights on Orctrap in Carpenter?s Landing. This NM can drop a katana called Nikkariaoe which I wanted to use for Promyvions. I headed over to the spawn point to see 2 people there. I hung around for a short while but not wanting the hassle of competition (I need to overcome this for further NMs though) logged off for an hour. When I returned the camp was deserted. I started killng placeholders, but instead of killing them all (spawn area is pretty large) I just killed 3 in one area then killed Tigers for fangs in between repops. After about 45 mins I was hitting Tab key and up it popped.

            Orctrap.

I panicked again and hit my ranged attack macro to launch a Dart and got hit with a lag spike so it seemed like it hadn?t worked so I ran forward, interrupting the ranged attack and claimed by melee. If competition was there, I would not have gotten that claim. Hacked away in an easy fight and crossed my fingers when the HP bar was empty. Again another lag spike prevented the drops from being listed immediately, the server seemingly teasing me.

You find a Nikkariaoe on the Orctrap.
            Rarehero obtains the Nikkariaoe.
You find a Hojutsu Belt on the Orctrap.
            Rarehero obtains the Hojutsu Belt.

To get the drop I wanted was good enough but to get a second drop was gravy. The belt didn?t seem that good (lvl32 belt with MP+10) but upon checking the AH I find it sells for 130k-140k.

Katana 2 was obtained. I purchased the remaining pieces of equipment I needed so am now all set for Promyvion. Just waiting on Apathye getting CoP (which I think is soon) and Moot getting NIN up to 15 to sub on his WAR then we will be attempting it. I?m looking forward to the challenge and finally getting to see Lufaise Meadows and Tavnazia.

Sadly my luck did not rub off onto Tobal when we went to Sea Serpent Grotto hunting for Hakutaku eyes. We did pop a coffer for close to 5k each tho >.>

Today is the big 16 hour maintenance period which I believe starts at 4pm which means no game for me today. There seemed to be some confusion as to whether the update today was the one that makes the changes to the game or whether it was preparatory. I hope it is the big update as that will mean patch notes will be available and I quite enjoy logging into POL Viewer when the update notes are out, kicking back with a cup of tea and reading through through them. Also, the following days when people extract information from the DAT files so we know what new equipment is in the new patch.

That my friend is indeed a great weekends work

My last 3 evenings were a little less fun, but finally at 1.30am this morning, leveling THF to 15 in the dunes was over!

Friday was easily the worst. 2500exp in 3.5 hours with every possible bad thing happening. Saturday was a little better but the going was still slow. Last night I logged on arround 9.30 about 1200 into Lv13. Got invited into a party straight away but there was absolutely no healing so after 45 mins I said due to the time I would disband and try for another party, but feel free to invite me back if you get a healer. About 30 mins later I noticed a suitable RDM so sent a /tell to the the leader who invited the RDM but unfortunately I didn't get invited back. After another period of waiting I decided to head to Konschtat Highlands to try for some solo Exp. As I ran forward into the zone I totally missed the Tremor Ram who agro'd me and even using Perfect Dodge, I didn't have time to get back to the zone and died...

...at this point I was kind of close to going to bed but I hung round a little longer until a miracle happened, a WHM appeared looking for a party! I invited him then got 2xNIN, a DRG and a WAR. We ended up chaining Lizzards and Gobs that were mainly VT and T but we were chaining 4-5 which worked a treat. Treasure Hunter Hopefully this will asist me in getting the 1M Gil I need for equipment in the next 4 levels O.o

Had a chat on the LS last night and we are hoping to do a Steamed Sprouts BCNM40 run on Thursday night. Party line up so far is:

              Talizker - RDM
              Wedge - BRD
Apathye - BLM or THF ?

and hopefully Tsing as PLD. Other than this we will need a WHM and another DD if anyone is interested.

An all round average weekend for me, although it did result in me gaining a further 2 lvls putting me @ 58 with every intention of making at least 60 by early this week hopefully.
Amongst other things, I camped crawler's nest twice with rare as he mentioned for a bag of seeds of all things, then after heading off to Castle Zvahl with the intention of completing the the 2nd part of the af boot quest, I get screwed over by an impatient BLM with a severe attitude problem and now I have his screaming fanboys attacking my AK thread and sending me unsavory tells in game - I might even unblock some of them by the time I hit 75. Just to cap it all off too, none of my Sleepshroom stacks sold If the price remained constant at something like 10k I'd be happy, but that price changes either way dramatically while my stacks are up and I feel miserable afterwards.

Fortunately, I have no gear on my shopping list that I won't struggle to buy once I absolutely need it. Also, for those of you who frequent this topic, I would like to form a group to assist me in obtaining my Moldavite earring, a long overdue item which I am eager to possess. If you would like to partake, please state times suitable for yourself

Spent most of my time on ffxi this weekend just leaving my BLM now lvl23, the last party I got in was quite the farce, the healing for the party was held together via Army?s Peon from a BRD and me Healing, as well as me Debuffing and Nuking? also tanking bst pets and sleeping links and tanking them to... miracle I never died.

Eye cluster farming was disappointment, no drops and it complete arse to get to them being there spread out through out the tunnels. So I?m taking the choice of just farming 200k(maybe 100k more for the synthing price I?ll have to pay) I need to get the last 2 eye?s, so the BLM is going on hold.

Well the going is really slow for me at the moment, eventually crept up to 56 only to lose it again the same day trying to get in Garlaige Citadel solo. Cleared the first banishing gate but then got a pop while I wqas resneaking, I really want that head gear and to be out of there.

I could well be up for the BCNM run on Thursday night have to take a double check on it, Wednesday would actually suit better if folks could make it. I'm away on a stag do on Friday so could use Thursday free.

I'm still just doing a bit of casual farming for craft materials, using summoner and fighting stuff I still get xp for... it's interesting (to me, anyway) that after fighting 2000 out of 6000xp points worth of enemies, call it an average 20 xp per kill so that's 100 summons not including all the healing rubies from carbuncle and aerial armour/rolling thunder etc - I've only gained 0.2 in summoning skill so far. At that rate, casting naturally, I wouldn't even make 1 more level in summoning skill before I hit level 33 and the cap goes up another three levels. ><

Tsing.. if you have a pressing need to get through the banishing gates, maybe we could sort out that gate breach party we talked about a while back and kill two or three birds with one stone? I assume Rarehero and Talizker still need to do it as well...

                        Here they are:

A new chapter has been added to ?Chains of Promathia.?

A new quest called ?The Fellowship Quest? has been added. Upon completion of this quest, the player will receive an item used to call an NPC.
-The NPC may not be called during NPC escort quests, but may be used along with beastmasters? pets, summoners? avatars, and dragoons? wyverns.
-The NPC may only be called in certain field areas.
-The NPC may fight monsters, gain experience, and level up with the player.
-A player fighting with an NPC fellow will receive only 70% of the usual experience points gained for solo battles.
-The NPC may be called only when there are less than six members in the player?s group. A party may contain a maximum of three NPC fellows, along with the three players who have called them.
-If the NPC?s level exceeds that of the player, its status will be adjusted to match the player?s level.
-The NPC?s equipment will occasionally change after fighting several battles.
-The NPC will leave if the player:
                        -temporarily logs out to PlayOnline
                        -logs out
                        -enters a different area
                        -is KO?d
-All NPCs in a party will leave if the party attempts to increase its total number of players and NPCs to seven.

Several new quests have been added, including:
-A quest in which the player may acquire headgear that resembles various beastmen
-Rematches with mammets and the Mithran sin hunters
                        And more!

An NPC that tells the player?s fortune regarding titles and other ?elements? has been added in Mhaura.

Character title selection has been changed in the following ways:
-It now costs less gil to change a player?s title. Also, it now costs no gil at all to check the player?s list of available titles.
-The NPC bard that changes player titles will now sing out the player?s title just before changing it.
-After changing the player?s title, the NPC bard will sing out the new title. Nearby PCs will also be able to hear the new title.
-The player will now have the option to have a random title selected for him or her at no cost once each day (Earth time).
-Titles earned by defeating NMs are now available for selection not just at Selbina and Mhaura, but also at Kazham and Rabao.

A chocobo riding game has been added. The player must deliver a chocobo from the chocobo stables where the quest was offered to a designated nation.

Players are now able to talk to an NPC and check the remaining time until they are able to reenter the battlefield for the ENM quests ?Pulling the Strings? and ?Automaton Assault.?

?Return Ring? and ?Homing Ring? have been added to the list of items that may be earned by exchanging conquest points.

If a player has completed the quests to get a pair of Mannequin Pumps or a Minstrel?s Dagger but disposed of the item he earned, the player may now reacquire the item at the same place he attained it.

Mythril Plate Armor has been added to the list of equipment that may be stored as a key item.

A new NPC that will trade items for treasure earned by defeating Lumorian monsters has been added.

                        [Battle-Related]
Players are now able to earn experience from monsters of a wider level range than previously possible. Experience points earned by defeating ?decent challenge? and ?easy prey? monsters will also increase in some instances.

Experience chain bonuses in level-restricted areas of Chains of Promathia are now determined by the level of the player while in that area, rather than the player?s actual level.

Monster locations have been adjusted, particularly in Chains of Promathia areas. The following areas will be affected:
Bibiki Bay, Uleguerand Range, Attohwa Chasm, Newton Movalpolos, Promyvion ? Holla, Promyvion ? Dem, Promyvion ? Mea, Promyvion ? Vahzl, Lufaise Meadows, Phomiuna Aqueducts, the Sacrarium, Riverne ? Site #A01, Riverne ? Site #B01, the Garden of Ru?Hmet, Ro?Maeve, the Boyahda Tree, the Den of Rancor, the Shrine of Ru'Avitau, Kuftal Tunnel

The damage and accuracy of a player?s ranged attack are now calculated based on the distance of the player from the monster. This determination varies from weapon to weapon, as does the ideal distance for maximum damage. In addition, the higher the monster?s level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack.

The player?s enmity now decreases when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack.

Weather will no longer have an effect on the distance a player can be detected for monsters that detect based on the use of magic.

Several new notorious monsters have been added.

Creatures summoned by monsters (excluding elementals) have had their names changed to ?(Monster?s name)?s Avatar? for consistency.

The strength of monster techniques has been adjusted, particularly in Chains of Promathia areas.

A player who is KO'd, revived, then while still in a weakened state KO'd again will now, after a second reviving, temporarily experience a weakened attack and accuracy loss for magic and ranged attacks.

Before the update, a player who fought a monster without using auto-attack would retain his claim on the monster, even if he was KO?d in battle due to poison, etc. This has been fixed so that when the player dies, the monster becomes unclaimed.

Before the update, a monster that was claimed by a party or alliance would occasionally go unclaimed when magic or a weapon skill was used on the monster as the monster moved out of range before the magic or weapon skill could strike.

                        [Item-Related]
Trading a wijnruit and 99 ninja tools to a certain NPC can now earn the player a toolbag. This item may be gathered in stacks of twelve, essentially increasing the player?s ninja tool inventory capacity twelvefold.

New synthesis recipes have been added.

Prices at guilds have been changed to reflect the amount of each item the guild currently has in stock. The cost may rise to a maximum of five times the original price.

Some of the treasure items earned from notorious monsters in the Boyahda Tree have been changed.

The way that the following items are acquired has been changed:
Archer Ring, Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, Peacock Charm
In addition, players may receive an EX/Rare or EX item with the same attributes from the monsters who previously dropped each of the above items.

The effects of the following items have been altered:
Poison Potion, Venom Potion, Paralyze Potion, Sleeping Potion, Silencing Potion, Blinding Potion, Vitriol, Instant Warp, Bastok Mines gate glyph, Bastok Markets gate glyph, Port Bastok gate glyph, Eastern San d'Oria gate glyph, Western San d'Oria gate glyph, Northern San d'Oria gate glyph, Windurst Waters gate glyph, Port Windurst gate glyph, Windurst Woods gate glyph, New Year?s gift, Cantarella, Black Drop, Muting Potion, Invitriol, Warp Cudgel, Trick Staff II, Treat Staff II, Teleport ring: Holla, Teleport ring: Dem, Teleport ring: Mea, Teleport ring: Vahzl, Teleport ring: Yhoat, Teleport ring: Altep, Memento Muffler, Gargoyle Boots, Zoolater Hat, Root Sabots, Aries Mantle, Anubis's Knife, Oscar Scarf, Kinkobo, Carpenter's Belt, Blacksmith's Belt, Goldsmith?s Belt, Weaver?s Belt, Tanner?s Belt, Boneworker?s Belt, Alchemist?s Belt, Culinarian?s Belt, Fisherman?s Belt, Counter Earring, Tactical Ring, Wing Gorget, Healing Feather, Spirit Lantern, Astral Pot, Homing Ring, Return Ring, Absorbing Shield, Tavnazian Ring, Ducal Guard's Ring, Maat's Cap, Kingdom Stables Collar, Republic Stables Medal, Federation Stables Scarf, Cursed Beverage, Cursed Soup

The item ?Timepiece? has been added to the list of special items a player may receive 100 days after participating in the Vana?diel Adventurer Recruitment Program.

The following item names have been changed in the English version:
                        Panzer Mask -> Panther Mask
                        Panzer Mask +1 -> Panther Mask +1
                        Amemit Mantle -> Amemet Mantle
                        Amemit Mantle +1 -> Amemet Mantle +1

The item name ?Comet? has been changed to ?Little Comet.?

An attribute of the following item has been changed:
                        Darksteel Pick +1 Delay:312 -> Delay:303

                        [System-Related]
Region Info may now be viewed from all areas.

Messages may no longer be sent using /tell to a player on the user?s blacklist.

Along with the introduction of the Fellowship Quest, players may now combine text commands with <ft> to target their NPC fellows and execute their desired actions. Only the player who called the NPC may target it using <ft>.

                        [Other Content]
The following changes have been made to Ballista.

-If one side of an official match is low on members, entry into that force is now possible even if a match is already underway. In this case, experience may still be gained if certain conditions are met, just as if the player had entered the match from the start. Also, if a player enters during a match, both forces will receive a message notifying them of the new entry.

The player must have the following in order to enter a match already underway:
                        -A Ballista License
-Enough gil to enter the match
-The minimum level required for the match being played

-A player who has just entered an official match or a match in Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba that was already underway will temporarily be placed under ?Preparing for Battle? status.

-Players may now borrow the key items ?Ballista Earring? and ?Ballista Band? free of charge from the Pursuivant in Ru?Lude Gardens.
Ballista Earring: When in possession of this item, the player will receive information about the next Ballista match and the entry registration time when entering San d?Oria, Bastok, Windurst, or Jeuno from one day prior to the match (Vana?diel time) until the end of the entry period.
Ballista Band: When in possession of this item, the player will be given the choice of whether to keep or throw away the first Petra he quarries.
*Ownership of a Ballista License is not required to borrow the above items.
*The player may return the items simply by speaking to a Pursuivant.

-Players are no longer able to adjust Petra selection settings in Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba. The player will be given the option of what to do with the first Petra quarried only when in possession of the new key item ?Ballista Band.?

-The following rules have been changed from special rules to standard rules.
-Camp locations will change when the number of participants in a match is 40 or less.
-The number of Rooks will be reduced to two when there is a significant difference in the number of players on each side.
-Players will now receive experience points for participating in an official match.

-The system of ?Open Entry? for official matches, in which all adventurers were allowed to join the force with the smallest number of participants, has been done away with and replaced by a system called ?Temporary Entry,? in which players may join a force regardless of allegiance. However, the player's entry is temporary, and similar to Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba's ?Auto-Balance? feature, the players may be redistributed for balance when the match begins.

-In Ru'Lude Gardens, the player will be able to view Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba's reservation status. Reservations for the next two days (Earth time) will be shown.

-The NPC Tillecoe will now inform the player of the match?s level restriction when a match at Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba is set to allow general participation.

-Temporary items will now be distributed at the start of official matches held at the Pashhow Marshlands.

-A section of the Ballista rulebook that is read out by the Pursuivant has been changed.

-The rate of success for Foe Lullaby and Horde Lullaby has been lowered for players with bard as a support job.

-A limit has been imposed on the amount of HP that can be absorbed by Bloody Bolts? HP Drain effect during Ballista.
Not read myself yet. Waiting until I get home and get my cup of tea to go with them. So tempting to read now tho >_<

I wonder how the acquistion of items such as the emp's pin will be handled now? A triggered spawn perhaps? I can but hope

Could this be the start of addressing the economy crisis?

Sounds interesting, the drops from the NMs are now ex and rare/ex...

The guild prices will raise rapidly if constantly bought out...

Could see some changes though I suspect that the claims on lizzie etc will stay the same, the joy now is the GS's will charge you to allow you to lot on item drops.

Oh gawd... and I just paid up for an Emp hairpin 2 days ago, lol. If they become easier to obtain then the price will surely plummet... maybe I should sell it back asap >.>

Interesting about the Peacock Charm, wonder what they're doing with that...

Edit: And what if the hairpin I've just bought turns rare/ex! There goes all my cash lol . But, I'm certainly intrigued by the changes...
