Yeah, erm we won?t be touching Amikiri again any time soon. Death Scissors for 2000+ damage >_<

We do have ToD for Ungur though (8:45pm) and I think Rabs is planning on camping the tunnel again tonight so I will be helping him as I need to get Ungur Boomerang for myself so any information I can gather is gonna be helpful.

We were really unlucky last night as just as everyone was arriving (after Rabs had seen Ungur was up about 30 mins prior) it got claimed by what Rabs said were gilsellers.

      Wednesday 21-12-2005 - ZM5 Ifrit's Cauldron

Tonight it's time for our last headstone for ZM5, I'm hoping the roster for the night will look like the usual ZM crew:

      61RDM/BLM - Talizker
      60BLM/SMN - Darwock
      74SMN/WHM - Mosley
      66PLD/WAR - Tsingtao
      68WAR/NIN - Kerushi

Anyone else is welcome to come join us if you need or want to help. Plan is as follows:

20:00 - Gather together Jeuno and put out a shout for any extras (will try Ossion at least)
      20:30 - Leave Jueno for Ifrit's Cauldron
20:45 - Start the treck through the Cauldron
21:45 - Reach the headstone in Yuhtunga Jungle (may only take 20 mins if everything goes well)
22:15 - More dancing and tea as the last of the ZM5 NMs lays dead at our feet

I would recommend that everyone bring the following
      1) 2 stacks of silent oil
      2) 2 stacks of prism powder
      3) A reraise item, even if only a scroll
      4) Anything else you fancy, remember this is the last on and we really don't want to come back
      5) For the quest after

a Garnet you can get these from the goldsmiths guild in bastok

Lets try to make this good fight good night for ZM5 and then we can move forward to ZM6. ZM6 I would like to try next week though knowing most of us are already commited to more things than a Lib Dem manifesto we'll play it by ear.

      {excitement}{Can I have it?}

I have an aversion to spoiler quotes, is that point number 5 something I should know? Is it related to what we have to do on Zepwell island?

Here's hoping we'll be all wrapped up in time for Lost at 11pm...

D it's a quest you can do directly after completing the mission, it involves the exact location that we're at and gives a piece of useful equipment in no way is it releated to the story line. I would say to do it to avoid the need to come back or the cost from the AH when you need the thing but I know you prefer to find these things yourself usually hence the spoiler tags.

          Item received is the

          Opo-opo Necklace

I had the honour of being killed twice by Amikiri, as I didn't manage to get sneak up in time after reraise. :-/

I'm going to come back when I'm a level 75 RDM/NIN and totally "pwn" her. I'm going to turn her into one of those translucent insect lollipops you can buy in Selfridges.

OK well if this is gonna be discussed tonight anyway, I'll have no chance of preserving the surprise... so I'll check what I need to bring. Here's hoping I don't find out what the reward is before I get it ^^

One more point, come on people lets see some more Bios posted to us, we have input from Bayan and Kerushi we need to finish putting on the site but with that almost done we need more.

Come on you know it makes sense!

Go look at the site at www.RarghLS.net to see what we need

Yeah, apologies for the delay guys, haven't had much time so far this week and we got half way through Bayan's bio at work and managed to lose it. Sunday night I was up half the night with the chocobo quest and levelling ninja then Monday night was xmas shopping and last night was a battle with Visual Studio and source safe (to try and get some shared source control between Tsing and I for working on the website) so we've been a bit tied up.

We should have both profiles online for your review later, then once you've both had a chance to look at them we'll link them into the main site. Will msg you the urls via POL.

                    Scorpions are bastards to kill in general - most of them carry the death scissors tp attack. I remember lvling my bst in Maze of Shakrimi, controling the maze scorpions. I would plow through everything with that 1 attack, until of course the charm effect wore off and I started failing with the ability ; ;

                    Didn't get pleasant...

Easily one of the most powerful tp attacks I've been on the recieving end of, its basically overkill unless you're well out of its lvl range.

I'll be quite interested to see what all the BSTs do following this nerf. Surely they can't give up on the best "solo" job in the game. There has to be another way.

And as someone with a level 8 BST, I see it as a bit of a tempting challenge to find it.

It seemed pretty straightfoward, as pointed out by Hohum after the update the regen effect now comes from pet food rather than from letting the pets wander back to their homes - just a wee bit of adaptation required surely? Not that I've ever played BST.

Don't think Wedge has ever commented on it has he?

                        Comment

On LS chat, Wedge has essentially said that he feels BST is dead and has no further desire to level it past the 60 it is currently at.

The idea of using pet food is admirable but it is not comparable. Remember that use of Pet Food is via the Job Ability ?Reward? (that?s right, every person who asks for help and offers ?Reward? via auto-translator is offering to ?Feed the Pet?) which is on a timer. You cannot keep using pet food. You have to wait until the ability cooldown is up. Obviously I?ve not played BST myself but from what I gather the regen effect of food is not fast enough to offer the same EXP chain possibilities as the old method.

That's what I've heard too. The regen food isn't the "compensation" that SE are presenting it as. It regens at a much lower rate than the mobs used to when returning to their original spawn points. The whole point of BST (as stated in my trusty "Brady Guide") is that mob hp recovers much faster than pc hp.

That said, I'm still tempted to find out if there's a different way of working with the mobs that will help the job retain its value. People only used them they way they did before because it worked, its unlikely that the "two mob cycle" technique was something SE specifically designed - it would have been developed over time by the people who first levelled BST.

It does seem the nerf was designed to force BSTs into party, mind, which I'd say is totally the wrong direction from SE.

Yup the problem does come from the regen being so slow on food and lets face it it has to be or pets would be invincible if they regened at the rate they did after leave during fights. As far as I'm aware food regens about 5% of pet health. BST have well and truely been nobbled by this one but to be honest I'm more unhappy that they keep making the game easier to fulfil the wishes of the instant gratification crew.

There was nothing wrong wit the old system except the GMs failed to police it. That was it, nothing wrong at all with the game.
