In fact, this to me is the clearest indication yet that despite their reported 'bannings' S-E really is sticking it's head in the sand on the whole RMT issue.

Finally, we advise against categorizing every NM camper as a "Chinese gilseller." A large percentage of the campers' accounts are North American, and currently, it is impossible to determine the nationality of a user through their account data.

About bloody time they made a statement like this, nice to see the developers are not affected by the same hysteria that leads to players posting lists of RMT sympathisers and the like. Remember that BLM in the dodgy gear I talked about the other day? A couple of people in that party asked him if he was chinese. That's not on... I had to smile when he replied he was japanese, even though I was slagging him off myself there was no reason to immediately jump to the 'OMG RMT' conclusion.

Also something last night, during a really nasty besieged that we were in real danger of losing (at level 4!) someone started shouting that another player was leading monsters to the generals and letting them (the generals) get killed - other people started shouting RMT. How f*&king stupid is that, yet people will read it and believe it.

That?s exactly how bad the situation has gotten though. Months/years of inaction on an issue that has been steadily getting more out of hand is going to lead to players becoming paranoid and throwing rash accusations out. However I was present at that Besieged incident and I viewed those comments as purely tongue in cheek.

Personally when you see groups of players who are online and active 24/7 I?m inclined to believe something is not right.

The only thing S-E did in that interview was miss the point completely. The interviewer?s choice of words in ?chinese gilsellers? was ill-advised as it allowed S-E to get out of dealing with the issue at hand by deflecting it with the statement you posted.

The fact that they are Chinese is irrelevant, the issue that large groups of ?players? are active in sky 24/7 bot claiming, pos hacking, claim stealing and MPKing. Many of these players (the infamous Tarutaru BLM) were spotted being power-leveled through the game by ?suspected? (just to appease yourself but I no longer view them as suspected) gilsellers so I make a safe assumption that they are RMT too. And they are there all the time.

At the same time you have the likes of Katebaby shouting in Lower Jeuno offering to sell Byakko?s Haidate and Kirin?s Osode.

No HNMLS operates like this. Tobal has already said that AaD have set times for trigger farming runs and those rare/EX drops go the players in the LS. Yet this 1 group is wholly different. Smells funny to me.

Deflect schmeflect, they were rightly responding to the rampant racism, that is far more important than whether or not someone gets the claim on their trigger NM.

It's racist to infer that Chinese players are all RMT, or all RMT players are Chinese. As I tried to point out with my experience the other day it has got to the point where just being a crap player is enough to get you 'accused' of being Chinese.

S-E stated that the vast majority of these camper's accounts are NA. Only they have that information.

My account is NA. As is yours. As is a large number of the LS yet not one of us live in NA.

All that proves is they are using US software which people have always presumed anyway. However, if a player speaks German I will assume they are German. If a player speaks Dutch I will assume they are Dutch. Taken to it?s natural conclusion if a player speaks Chinese I will assume the majority of people will assume they are Chinese (and many of these people have spoken, I?ve received many tells myself and yes they have all been in Chinese, more precisely the romanised form of the exact name I forget at this time).

No sensible people assume that a chinese player is a gilseller. This is as ridiculous as the entire, JPN parties bring in higher EXP, edict that some people operate under.

Yeah well I obviously see this very differently to everyone else, so I'm not going to continue pressing the point. Not like I can add everyone on this thread to my ignore list or unequip my NTSC-UK pearl...

For the record though I see the Gilsellers themselves as the lesser of the evils that stem from this whole thing. Biggest problems to me are:

1) Demonising of innocent players, be it entire sections of the FFXI community like the Chinese, or individuals who are in a party with someone that isn't 'approved of'. People MPK other people on the strength of rumour and believe they are in the right, one party member once justified his MPKing of some players to me by saying they were gilsellers, I asked how he knew and he said (no joke) "because I MPKd them". Anyway this is the **** that affects everyone's game and stops it being fun. It also achieves absolutely nothing.

2) Gilbuyers. Only time RMT has impacted my game personally was when the christmas price cuts were made on IGE etc. That says to me that a LOT of people must buy gil.. wouldn't surprise me if all these allakazham types are telling porkies, you'd have to be pretty active in the game to even consider buying gil surely... and it's the vocal community who is most active.

3) Gilsellers. Root of the problem, but also one that won't go away as it's an industry. But you know, I can live without a kraken club, kirin's osode, thief's knife etc. I've never had an invite to Tu'Lia, so what it's a massive game, they can have a little corner of it and monopolise the luxury items and it won't affect me in the slightest. Gilsellers would not be a problem if not for the buyers.

That's all I'm saying on it.

The problem is they will only do so much to catch GS and it has be in the act of doing it (selling gill, hacking) which GM are never around for, gimya and co in SKY constantly Warp hack and claim bot Ulli and other triggers the only hope we have is if they wipe after claiming because they?ve spread thin on the ground fighting other triggers to save there pull, all this makes Byyako fights rare for a lot of the Sky ls?s. The problem is it gotten so bad that some LS are suspecting each other, recently many have suspected BTL of buying triggers using LS money (rarely seen at trigger points these days I?m told, yet also seen fighting gods often). And as of yesterday there 2 new groups of gill sellers powerleveling there ****ty equipped rank1 characters through CN and GC.

SE can easily quick fix SKY without dumping all the GS buy making all the trigger Nm?s 2hr spawns (outside the trigger popped trigger NM?s), sadly all this SKY crap has lead to our former SKY ls now camping ground Hnm?s which is really f^*king boring.

Personally, I find the attitude of ?we can?t do anything so let?s not bother? really pathetic. Yes people can live without the fancy equipment but should we have to? Should there really be sections of the game that ?regular? players barely bother with because the RMT have they so tightly controlled. I certainly don?t think so. Should I ever reach a point in time where I have all this fancy equipment, I hope I have the strength of character to still hold the same values as I do know and don?t view it as someone else?s problem.

You?re absolutely right that this game is massive with lots of things to do. Sadly in almost all aspects of it RMT will have an influence down to basic farming in places like Pashow Marshland/Korroloka Tunnel up to Sky Gods and other HNMs. They no longer have a ?little corner of it? unfortunately.

I?m not disagreeing with what you say regarding the actual problems. If there were no gilbuyers the problem would be much smaller. This is true. Also I think your blowing the Chinese aspect out of proportion. Claiming that ?Chinese gilsellers? are ruining sky is not the same as saying that all Chinese are gilsellers.

I opened up the second stage assaults, seems all you need to do is completed a number assaults then speak to the president to upgrade you rank with the imp wing quest (trade her imp wing). Some of the second missions look enjoyable, kill training majool, beat Bst/Rng Lamie nm and her 3 pets, and Mining for ore (one you get the ore you agro everything ^^.

I think meric?s has first class private rank, anyone gained it yet?

Last night tali, sae and I did the Door break which went bad shortly after breaking down the first door(no prisoner dammit) sae controls for his joypd/keyboard messed up and he couldn?t move leaving tali and I, trying to force a second stave toss out of mage we had, never came and I had to make the kill after taking a fire spit leaving me with 2hp and third eye up? still its 100 points for a bit of fun.

Anyone interested in some assaults tonight between 6 and 8?

One of the main reasons I'm playing this game is for the fancy items that not many other people have.

There's hundreds of those David, gilsellers don't go for rare/ex items cos they can't sell them.
