Got a nice copy of Waku Waku 7 though the post the other day and the very nice XMD-3 which allows you to connect a Mega Drive 2 (or anything with a bit of hacking) and get a pure RGB signal from it !! Works amazingly well !! I even used it on my TFT monitor !! Out puts include S-Video, 15 pin to VGA (15kHz), 21 pin Scart and 8 pin Din. There's also audio L&R out and a screw marked TOWNS MODE which I guess is for the FM Towns.

Awesome, so that essentially gives proper VGA from a MegaDrive by tapping into RGB outputs? Sounds stunning

yeah, something like that. There are also XMD-1 and XMD-2 I know that XMD-1 is for the first Mega Drive but I'm not sure what the XMD-2 is for since XMD-3 is for the Mark II Mega Drive. I've been after one of these for ages now ever since I discovered that Japanese Mega Drives have really awful composite video out The company that made this box also make an all round box that you can connect anything to and will convert the signal to VGA or RGB. That box cost a whopping 100 pound or there about. One day I'll track one down.

They look very much like Micomsoft products, so I'd assume your talking about their X-RGB range The X-RGB2 Plus is the newest, I think.

Yes, that's t he one. The X-RGB2 Plus is very sweet but very expensive. One day..... The XMD-3 that I have si also by Micomsoft. Bloody amazing company! I want the X-RGB2 Plus so that I can play my Saturn on the TFT. I thought the Mega Drive 2 one would work but the Meag Drive two A/V plug has one extra pin that the Saturn doesn't have so it won't fit I could hack it but I don't really want to destroy this lovely box.

I'm holding out on the hope that they'll release a box (X-RGB3? :P ), that does both double-scanning like the X-RGB2, and also transcodes 480p like their X-Select product. This would be an essential product for any gamer if they did.

gametraders rarely have anything good. i just go there on the off chance i might find a cool old DOS/ps1 game.

the dvd store also rented out games, which was why they had 2nd hand stuff. i suppose 'ex-rental' was more correct.

popped into Gamestation after work, just on the off-chance they had anything interesting, and picked up Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Ridge Racer 64 and Castlevania in their '3 carts for a fiver' dustbin

Zelda i'm not that bothered about, as i have the Gamecube port. but it's just the fact that i now own a 'proper' version.

Dont be too quick to write it off!! In my opinion you cant get the full experience of OoT without playing it with an N64 controller on an N64 console.

I dont know if it's just me, but I always think to truly appreciate a game; especially one as fantastic as OoT, you must play it on the hardware it was designed for, then you're experiencing the game with the correct controller and your interaction with the game will be a lot more 'real', as the developers intended it to be.

Something so simple as the controller layout for example (namely the use of the C-Buttons for items and the fantastic Z-Targeting system) on the N64 gives the player such a natural and instinctive control over what Link does throughout the world and I feel even something so seemingly insignificant like the button assignments, create a less 'true' OoT experience when played on the GC controller.

I still get so passionate about how people should approach OoT to get the mesmorising 'experience' of it all! I guess that's what happens when you just 'click' with a game so much in your youth...you just can't let small comments pass! Ignore me!
