Yeah, the graphics are a bit "scrunched": I remember reading a reason why Capcom did it in this fashion but I can't remember why now...

I'm at work so I haven't got a clue what other Dramatic Battle modes are in there, I'll have a looky when I get home.

Regardless. The DC version still rocks Loads better than the compromised PS iteration. Admittedly I haven't played the arcade original in an age, so all this is based on fleeting memories of yore...

Man I love the saturn so much 200+ different jp games, 50 pal (there's only 30 or so pal game worth owning) and a few US games too.

So what else can I recommend...

      Batsugun - underrated shooter
Bubble Symphony - class bubble action
      Capcom Generations 1 to 4
      Choaniki - weird shooter
      Cotton 2
      Cotton Boomerang
Courier Crisis - looks ropey but plays quite well
Crows - scrolling fighter, not to everyone's taste
      Cyberbots - ok robot fighter
      Detana Twinbee Yahoo Deluxe PAck
      Donpachi
Dracula X - classy version with extras over the ps version
Dungeond and dragons - 2 great scrolling fighters
Neo conversions like Fatal fury 3, Fighters history etc - if you like them of course, but they have been ported pretty well I reckon
      Game paradise - great shooter
      Gun Frontier Arcade gears
Gusson oyoyo - great little puzzle game, weird but so much fun
Hyper Duel - pricey but decent shooter
Image Fight and X Multiply - old school R-typo/Gradius clones
Kyukyoku tiger 2 Plus - everyone loves tiger heli right?
Langrisser dramatic Edition - compliation of all 5 games in the truly great Langrisser series
      macross - okish shooter
Magic knight rayearth - refreshing rpg alternative to shining force 3
      Marvel Superheroes vs SF
Mizubaku adventure - slow paced platformer (bubble boble 4 I think)
Nekketsu Oyako - final fight clone but with more moves, solid game imo
Prikura Daisakusen - class isometric action from Atlas
Psychic Killers taromaru - love it or hate it....I LOVE it
      Pulirula Arcade gears
      Rockman 8, X3, X4 - I love rockman ok?
Shienryu - overlooked shooter with some fun moments
Shinobi X - why not..looks crap and playsthe same but strangely compelling
Silhouette Mirage - better than the ps version I believe
Skull fang - entertaining shooter and very cheap
      Sol Divide
Steam Gear Mash - enjoyable isometric platform/action/adventure type affair
Steam hearts - say what you like, ok shooters and dodgy anime hentai rule
Stellar Assault - don't let the high price deter you..hugely enjoyable imo
Tenchi wu Kurau 2 aka Warriors of Fate 2 - the definitive saturn scrolling fighter..better than D&D Collection even though it doesn't utilise the ram cart..class!
Tryrush deppy - alternatively styled platformer (you're a car type character)
Twinkle Star Sprites - not as good as the neo version but damn close and a fraction of the price
      Waku Waku 7 -
      Wonder 3 Arcade Gears
Albert Odyssey - great rpg (us version is best for obvious reasons)
Bug and Bug too - enjoyable platformers that are pretty tough
      Dark Savior
Deep fear - RE under water and sadly underpowered
      Dragon Force - superlative fun
      Shining the Holy Ark
      Shining Wisdom
      Thor 2

Say what you like about Saturn kids, but they're always easy to please.

i really wish radiant silvergun wasn't so expensive. i've been after a copy for god knows how long, but i've never been prepared enough to throw down the money for it. although...

finally got my hands on a copy of silhouette mirage last night. it went for ?21, which i didn't think was too bad after the amount of hassle i've had trying to grab it off eBay, haha.

Mm, I'll probably never own it. I'm not a huge shmup fan, not enough to justify spending ?75 + on one game anyway. I guess I could just buy it, play it and sell it on for the same price, though.

                      i really enjoy shumps - it's just the price that puts me off. when i can get a number of other games i'm after for the same price as rs on it's own, it kind of makes you think ^__^;

the wife was out all day so i had myself a good old fashioned Saturn session and i played some of my games (that i have already) here are my opinions on how they look nowadays - please feel free to disagree with me

Daytona USA hahahaha - just Awful its actually hard to see what you're doing as it looks that bad

Touring Car championship - see above

Gale racer - was warned and even though it looks quite faithful to the rad mobile arcade machine it is just ****e

vampire saviour - looks identical to my mame emulator and plays much the same - very happy

kof 96 - pretty much the same as the neo geo cart version just with loading times

nights - has aged but still fun to play

dodonpachi - fun shooter and just as good as the one i have on mame

virtua cop 1 & 2 - still excellent and most enjoyable

virtua fighter 2, megamix & vipers - still alright, megamix still looks okay

thats it for this evening - all the big hitting titles (16 games cost me ?300) have been sent and i'm still waiting for them to arrive, but i will be away for 2 weeks shortly and i wont get a chance to play them

NiGHTS is a quality title even to this day. i wish sega would hurry up and remake it / make a sequel for SOMETHING. it's been too long coming...

megamix looks okay still, but the amount of slowdown on it last time i played, jesus.

Apart from the poor FMV, Virtua Cop still looks great, and plays brilliantly.

NiGHTS also still looks pretty good, but the SS games that have really stood the test of time well are the 2D ones.

I enjoyed the Saturn just as much as the Playstation. My machine is modded for all region and 60hz with switches- but the switches didn't work anymore last time I tried it so I put it away in its box.

Most of my favourite games have been mentioned- but a couple of lesser talked about titles I like are: Bomberman and Last Bronx. LB really impressed me back in the day with it's great graphics and sound- not forgetting the brutal action- haven't played it for years though... could be crap now!
