Mass Destruction is another Saturn gem that hardly gets talked about.

Buster it may cost a bit but of you want to see what the Saturn could really do then get Taromaru. The game is ever bit of a Saturn showcase as RSG.

Also get Quake , Duke Numkem 3D if only for the Death Tank Zwei bonus game. The game is one of the best multi player games ever made, and it's free.
Lobotomy was something else back in those days. Exhumed. Power Slave is till for my money the best fps ever made, and Ezra Dreisbach is a programming genius

There's just too many Saturn games to list

Last Brox was a mess when it was released ans still a mess now. The amount of slowdown and flickering polygons is really bad. Still, it's great to play. The best looking 3D fighter on the Saturn is Tecmo's Dead or Alive. Beautiful high resolution textures with a solid frame rate.

Last night I played a few games on my Saturn which were Elevator Action Returns (F*cking amazing platform shooter), Tengai Makyou: Daishi no Mokushiroku The Apocalypse IV, Magical Hoppers and Vampire Savior. All of them being great games. The Saturn to me is the best CD based games system ever.

Am I the only one that thought Megamix looked worse than VF2 and Vipers? Great idea but there were sacrifices.

i don't know. i haven't played it in quite a while, but like i said; all i can remember is the slowdown on certain stages (usually ones that have walls when you're in the corner of the ring, from what i remember) that made it a bit "..." to play at times.

personally Vipers looks the worst out of the 3 of them

sprites are bigger on vf2 and look pretty decent and the reason i picked between vf2 and megamix was the roster of characters

both games play more or less the same

There's your problem. You're playing the MD version

                duh

after checking out a variety of stuff i reckon i will stick with fighters and shooters

games like daytona - which i remember being absolutely terrific in the day are just plain awful

                damn those rose tinted glasses

The Saturn conversion of Daytona was never one of Sega's best. Neither was Touring Cars. Shame as they're both great in the arcade even today.

It looked better than was it. While the AM#2 Saturn port looked sh8t, it's still the only one with the feel of the Arcade orginial. The AI and handling is almost spot on (Not even the DC version had that) and the textures are the very close to the model 2 game. It may look the worst, but it's still the best home verion of Daytona

Yeah I agree DOA looks the best (though it's close with VF II).

Don't agree about Last Bronx ,apart from the sprite flicker on the reaplays it looked amazing back in it's time.
Amazing use of the VDP II for the Ceilings, the multi layer parallax backgrounds are the best out of all the 3D fighters on the Saturn, add in the speed blur on the weapons and in many ways LB is the most impressive on a technical level.
Also it features much better sound effects than those in DOA or VF II, and I just love the soundtrack to Tears Bridge

I agree with you. Fighters Megamix sure does look worse than VF2 and maybe worse than Fighting Vipers. The characters just look messy due to the resolution.

The Saturn version of Daytona may look crap but it sure plays like the arcade. Even to this day it still plays best. Easily the best home version today. The Japanese remake is ok but the US version plays like crap however and has bloody awful music. Atleast the Japanese one has the original music option. Probably the PAL version too.

no way, fighters megamix moved and looked far more slicker than fighting vipers and vf 2

                                yeah, i remember reading about that quite a while back. i'll probably pick it up soon and give it a whirl, once i've got the games i'm currently trying to grab on eBay ^__^;
