Finished Super Mario 3 and Super Mario 2 in one sitting; needed to beat a platformer after getting my head handed to me by Ghouls N’ Ghosts. ;p

Really enjoyed both. Surprised myself by remembering where all the hidden flutes were in SMB 3.

Moved on to Yoshi’s Island now. First thoughts, very easy. Not sure if this is a repercussion of playing such an unforgiving game recently or if the game truly is stupidly easy; I think I’m near the end and don't recall dieing once.

The thing is it's totally fair and not on a par with Contra Hard Corps. (for example) in terms of difficulty so I know I could do it if I really tried. At the same time I know I never will.
I agree. It’s one of those games you know you could beat if you kept at it over and over but damn, I do not have the patience anymore; well, not the amount of patience a game like this requires.

Played Donkey Kong country from start to finish yesterday. Only took me just over an hour but I can never get tired of it.

Thinking about Legend Of Zelda next, haven't played it since I was about 16 so will be nice to get back into it.

I busted out F-Zero on the SNES this week. I swear to god it still looks as good as it did when it was released. Incredible game.

            Beat Yoshi?s Island.

Now that?s how you do a final boss! - I can see why people were so disappointed with the 64 sequel now.

Going to give the Super Star Wars games a go next. I beat the first when I was a kid so it?ll be interesting to see how my gaming skills fair a second time round.

                Final Fantasy VI - Still...
Streets of Rage - Trying to 1cc this with my Mrs. who is now hooked. We're doing **** but getting better.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles - I remember this being hard as **** when I was a kid... and if anything it's even ****ing harder now. I'm trying to play from the start with a fresh save, whereas back in the day I'd already had a Sonic 3 clear file for starting Sonic & Knuckles with. Also, this version is a bit quicker with it being NTSC VC, so the all-important bonus stages are absolutely testing my patience.

This is hard as nails, but a true GOOD Sonic game! What the hell happened to this series?* Anyway, I'd not only forgotten just how good S3&K is, but I'd also forgotten how much S&K actually pushed the Megadrive! It's amazing, and I'm really chuffed the VC release has the lock-on functionality.

I'm in heaven atm... I'm downloading VC stuff faster than I can play it. Got loads of stuff I've never even touched before to have a dabble with.

*Speaking of how **** Sonic has become... I have this 'Sonic and the Secret Rings', or whatever it's called, that I got with the console, holy ****! What a BAD game!! This has to be one of the worst games I've ever played. I actually want to burn it so I can sleep at night but I don't want to pass on this piece of **** into the Chinese afterlife because they'll think I'm taking the piss and probably come and haunt me or give me some really bad karma, so I'm stuck with it. It even has the same camera glitches as the Sonic Adventure games, especially noticeable when you fall down a hole. What a baaaaaaad game.

Didn't own a N64 and came very later to the Gamecube so had never played a Legend of Zelda game until a couple of years ago.

After not enjoying LoZ and hating Zelda II Adventure of Link from my GC LoZ Collector's Edition I'd put off trying the other later games. But with the 25th Anniversary I thought had to try again.

Glad I did. Started Ocarina of Time last night and really got into it. The twee characterisation and occasionally embarrassing script aside the rest smacks of quality and imagination. The graphics are also outstanding for a game of its age - shame the PAL version doesn't support 480p. More to the point though: it's still great fun to play.

Street Fighter II and Super Mario Kart. In love with the SNES like the day I first got it in 1993. Cannot wait to get SF2 Turbo.

I've been specifically all about the Taito platformers on the PC Engine!

Don Doku Don, The New Zealand Story and Parasol Stars. Just love that era and genre. Please tell me if there's a few I should seek out and play.

                        Super Mario Advance 4

So far, I've got all exits, coins and bonuses on SMBA1 & 2 so I'll finish this before I properly move onto Yoshi's Island(I've already got 100% on world 1).

Why oh why don't they make them like this any more?

All weekend I've been playing the super nintendo. Me and my mate spent some time playing mortal kombat, super mario all stars (super mario bros. 3) street fighter and so on. I bought super mario RPG from the wii virtual console as well, it's a great game but I just feel wrong not playing it on a super nintendo.

I take it that is SMW? I have been telling a friend about all of the secrets in the game, not how to get them but what is there. He was amazing at how much is in there. It is truly stunning game design.

Playing F-Zero on SNES, what a brilliant racer. 21 years on it is still fast, still exciting and with the expert and master levels, a proper racer.

HI guys, I'm playing LOTS of retro stuff lately. Because I love it and because I do it for my blog devoted to gaming photography. Here a clipboard about my last (loving) play&record sessions. See if you can guess all the 10 titles (quite an easy bet if not for the small windows)

I wont even attempt to guess all ten cus I'm hopeless at that sort of thing. I love that blog though, there's some great photos in there.

I've been playing The King of Fighters '94 over the last month or so. I'm still not very good and haven't even seen the final boss yet but it's great. I decided to go back to the start of the series rather than just jumping straight into '98 because everyone says it's the best. If I ever finish it I'll move onto '95 but until then I plan to get as much fun out of this one as possible. I'm playing as the Art of Fighting team and I've got a couple of combos sussed out so at least I'm heading in the right direction.
