They should do - they're the best part of two decades old. And let me guess: Starfox still looks great today whereas Virtua Racing looks tired and dated; the avant-garde, abstract backgrounds of Super Mario World make Sonic 2's cartoonish visuals look childish and silly. Do you see what I'm getting at? Games for the SNES are just as old as Megadrive games and I know this might offend you, but they also look old these days. Just not to you.

Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder.
I'm only joking around when I talk about fanboys etc... When it comes down to it, I'd defend the Mega Drive, SNES, Neo Geo, Amiga, as proof that 16-bit gaming is far more fun overall.

I like the SNES the most, but.. just because it's my favourite fruit, doesn't mean I don't like to enjoy others. ... My gaming setup is a fruit cocktail of machines. ... The SNES gets the most use, then the MD, then the NeoGeo. After that, the likes of the Amiga, PC-Engine, NES, Master System. As long as a machine is pre-32bit, I'll be happy.

I'm not against 32-bit onwards. I just know in my heart that I'd choose 16-bit, given a choice of only one generation to own. I rarely feel true excitement from modern games. When I play the likes of ContraIII for the thousandth time - I still get a massive rush from the experience. 16-bit games continue to deliver tons of joy - and I think a lot of gamers feel the same. I've seen teens on the net, who are addicted to 16-bit games. There definitely is something magical about the best games from that period in gaming.

The second game is very much the same as the first. I'm pretty sure the visuals are a bit more impressive. Both games are fun, but demanding.

Guess we'll be mentioning loads of games, again and again. I remembered how much I liked them back in the day - and had to mention it.

Anyway, what about Cosmo Gang The Video?

One of the best shooters for the SNES. Much better than you'd imagine it to be. The visuals, sound, gameplay, are all superb. A real gem of a game.

I was playing cosmo gang just the other day. It's a lovely little game which I actually bought without knowing what it was. It was one of these ebay auctions just labeled as a super famicom unboxed game. No one bid on it, so I got it for 99p.

Ah cotton 100% i love that game, managed to one credit it for the first time last week. (Last boss is incredibly unfair, or there's some sort of strange trick i'm not getting)
The music in that game is really good too. And it's one of the sfc games u get a mini cd, though sadly not an ost

Think i might play some turtles tournament fighters today.
Still need to get the Japanese version of this game, they added a few extras like being able to choose 2p colour and extended stages.

What would be the definitive SNES setup that would be best for playing all regions? A modded PAL one with 50/60 switch or a US one as its NTSC already?

I'd prolly say a USA SNES if you want it to play games from all regions, simply because you won't have to hack away part of the cartridge slot opening to cater for wider USA carts. Just my opinion though.

Have to agree here. Never saw the fuss over the MD version. The snes was so responsive to play and still looked amazing.

Another simple fav was Goof Troop. Really enjoyed it. Nice graphics and a fun little puzzle game.

Due to this thread I've just put in a couple hours on super mario world

40 levels in one sitting, not bad.

I remember people saying they preferred mario 3 as it was more of a challenge, and although I prefer SMW I did had 55 lives when I turned it off, it just throws them at you

I never like SM3. Just didnt feel right. I hated the stupid boss levels and the music wasnt right. But then i enjoyed SM2......

                        SMW rules the lot though.

                          Indeed.

I've had a few 99p SFC bargains from UK sellers. Cosmo Gang is a fantastic game.

Turtles Tournament. Wow! ... That was a game I had little hope for( just didn't think it would be a solid fighter) but.. it really surprised me with its quality gameplay. Visually, sonically, another winner from Konami.

Yep, a USA SNES is a good choice. It comes down to whether you like the design, or not. I really like the colour ... Plus the joypads have two indented buttons - which I like more than the other pads.

I'm a big fan of SM2. It's always been a captivating experience. Full of fun and things to do. I sometimes think I like it more than SMW.
