oh dear, hope they are saving up some good stuff cos that felt very tired and very bored last night. horrible scripted gurning for laughs awkward 'banter', one dull stunt, razzing 2 cars round a track with lots of smoke and racing a car down a big hill.
these new shows don't really add anything to what's getting repeated already on Dave.
it's not bad, it just feels tired and that the format (which I know they created) needs livening up a bit.

The camera angles/arty bits (like the "surveillance" camera shots) are really doing my head in. Wish they'd stop and just show the cars.
Small thing, but the F430 Scuderia (last week), and the RS6 were both covered on Fifth Gear ages ago, and to be honest, I thought the coverage on both shows was pretty similar.
Top Gear stunt man needs to be axed immediately, if not, sooner. Star in a Reazzzzzzneeds to follow it on the way out.

Such a disappointing epEven the CLK Black Series at the end couldn't save it as I just feel now that whatever Clarkson says about cars bears no real meaning, I think this is because I've been reading a lot of EVO mag recently and it's clear that those guys know a whole lot more about cars than JC ever will and they also care a lot more for them. JC is coming across now as a rich bugger that could afford whatever he wanted and doesn't give a damn about any car that isn't a brand new dogs danglies £200k plus monster. All his reviews are really formulaic now too.
Agree with you Chris, SIARPC and Stunt Man need to be shot.
I'm disillusioned so far, was really looking forward to it last night and it let me down.

Not seen last night's episode yet, but was disappointed with the series opener (bar the first ten minutes when they had the supercars racing to see how many mpg they got).
Such a shame one of our best shows is going through a real bad patch, someone told me this series is only six episodes long, not sure if that's true or not.

If last night's episode was the very first Top gear you'd ever seen, you'd think it was good show. But after eleven series the formula is getting staler than the bit of manky pizza I found in my daughter's room the other day.
It's wierd that I would have guessed that the team would have realised that its getting a bit dull now and done something about it. The series trailer (with them sitting round a table struggling to come up with ideas) gave the impression they knew change was needed.
I can only guess that the foreign market means more than the domestic market now.
I'm sure they'll be someone coming on here saying how it is still the best show on TV, but it's not. It's really not.

agree totally, my son still thinks it brilliant but he's only watched it for a couple of years.
plus you always get several million chimps who once they like something are happy to watch the same thing way past its sell by date (see Fools & Horses, last of the Summer Wine etc).
I was hoping that they would be smart enough to try and just tweak it a bit, not tear up the whole play book but just try something different.

I think they just need to simplify the show and take away the excess flab.
My favourite parts of Top Gear are the reviews, Power Lap, ?1000 challenges and races. They really are the meat and most enjoyable parts of the show and can be improved upon dramatically or changed every week.
The star in a reasonably priced car is great so long as the guest is interesting, as such they should only have a guest on when they find one that?s worth it! Top Gear Stuntman is good in my opinion but they?re making him appear on every show as a segment and the stunts should be worthwhile enough. The Cool Wall is fairly useless but can be fun if they?ve got some decent cars to show, but generally it?s a ?you?re wrong, I?m right, let?s ask the audience and disagree with them? argument.
However it?s only been two episodes and the police car creation was brilliant, there have a challenge next week and the race in a bullet train with the new Nissan GTR could be brillaint.
Sort out the chuff and then proceed as we all know and love.

My favourite parts of the show are the one off challenges which have dropped away, especially the ones where Clarkson isn't involved. Hammond and May's Robin Reliant rocket for example or Caravan Conkers.
The rocket Mini in the Winter Olympics special was great too, but generally Clarkson's involvement means he just gets belingerent and things get really stagey. Plus he's the worst actor out of the three.
