Well I'm in the 'it was all in his head' camp over the

    'Desmond is a time traveller'

camp which is ridiculous even by Lost standards. But while watching it I had all sorts of thoughts running through my head - especially regarding the events of the previous episode

when the Ex-Husband gets 'accidentally' hit by that bus

, that freaky biarch points out the dude in the red shoes and then...

BTW, ignore that picture link - its a continuity error rather than a separate timeline.

I thought so -it all looked too caricatured to me. Union Jacks everywhere, newspaper sellers in Dickensian clothes (almost). Compared to the realistic representations of other cities around the world that we?ve seen (Seoul in Korea, Sydney in Australia, loads in the US), Desmond's London was a bit like a cartoon.

A highly caricatured London is what you?d expect in a show like Friends, but it was jarring in Lost ?which makes me suspect it was deliberate to indicate that it was all in his head. The scene in the jewellers was very dreamlike.

I reckon it was Bouncer the dog having another dream! That's why Jim from neighbours was there. I think the whole of Lost is set in the Bungle Bungles, that's where most characters who were killed/written out of Neighbours ended up. I'm sure Helen Daniels will turn up soon...

Ohm and why was Clare in the sea in the first place? From her comments she'd gone swimming, but was fully clothed?

Nige - I think your theory makes much more sense than lots of what's happened so far.

Maybe its an easier way of washing them? Plus it make the drowning seem more likely as she wears all those baggy hippy chick clothes and no doubt some big arse Dr Martin boots!

Do you think the Lost writers are delighted if they can do an episode like this one which has so many possible explanations that people come up with loads of theories to explain all the happenings? I think its a fine line for them to tread between having this reaction and lots of people just giving up in frustration after too many questions go unanswered.

This latest episode has so many possibly huge plotlines which might go to explaining so much of the rest of the show, that I really hope they clear some of them up asap.

I firmly believe that they're making it up as they go along ... I only watch it cos it is at least interesting from time to time.
I wouldn't be surprised if the writers were watching the fan forums for plot ideas.
But if I had to guess at the "grand plan" of what it's all about ...

We know that the numbers are "factors" in an equation that determines how long mankind has left.

And we know from Desmond's recent episode that the fate of everything is apparently predetermined, and it'll all come out in the wash eventually.

The experiments on the island are supposedly something to do with altering the values of the equation to prolong mankinds existence ... but if everything has a time to end, how can that be possible?

I'm guessing that the old woman in Desmond's dream/flashback/timetravel thing is "the island" or at least "the force of nature" telling him not to meddle with stuff.

And maybe the big smoke monster is the physical manifestation of that ... a soldier that sorts things out.

Maybe it'll come about that, according to the equation, mankind should've destroyed itself years ago, and only the nonsense on the island is keeping it going.

Or maybe it's all a dream, and Bobby is just having a shower.

                      I like that theory.

it was good, but from the teaser i thought they were going to reveal a lot more, really they just hinted at a few things. still interested to see whats coming up next.

although i was expecting that girl to be a bloke the whole way through

WTF? Have I missed an episode here or something, during the "previously on Lost" in the latest episode there was loads of stuff I've not seen before. Such as

the blonde 'other' helping kate and sawyer escape! Last I saw they were on the run after Jack cut Ben's kidney sacks at the end of season 2

. I'm sure this stuff wasn't at the end of the last series and it definitely wasn't in the last episode either. I'm confused

You must of missed the one before last mate. Not the Desmond one, before that.
