...Got this for Christmas & it's just as awful as the first time I saw it.
I had hoped that re-watching it at home would make it easier to view as I could get up & leave during all the ****, but all it did was re-affirm just how freaking wrong Bay got EVERYTHING.
It's still better than Revenge of the Fallen but that wasn't hard.
Tuttoro winds me up, Shia winds me up, Rosey whats her face winds me up...the only thing that didn't was Tyresse Gibson as he wasn't in it long enough & that they used Peter Cullen & Frank Welker for the voices, other than that the whole thing is a mess.
Oh & Wheelie & Brains just pee me off even more in this than R.O.F
I liked the part where OP starts ass-kissing Buzz Aldrin, like he wouldn't have flamed his ass for being a major conspirator in the whole mess!

1st Man on the Moon! Woah! Big deal! Gotta show respect! My ass... like visiting the moon is anything near what the Autobots have accomplished, it's like me congratulating a cockroach for crawling across my toilet floor.

The Deer Hunter. Really good for the most part but has lost its impact over the years I think and feels a bit disjointed. I'd like to see a remake with Nic Cage and Leonardo DiCaprio*

          * Last bit not true.

Saw the Fright night remake last night with Colin Farrell and . . . . . it wasnt half bad. I'd only seen the original once and didnt remember it that well but there some neat twists in the 2011 version. For a horror movie it wasnt actually scary about from about 2 jumpy bits. It was more a supernatural comedy with some gore in. The script was from one of the buffy writers so not bad and kept things moving along. The effects were pretty good but its Farrell who you remember most from this, just as he did with Daredevel, he steals the scene from anyone he shares it with as a bad guy. Really mean, menacing as well as quite slimy when he's taking about women/his prey. I'd say check it out it you fancy being entertained for 1.5hrs although it was pretty forgettable after.

As far as remakes go this was an ok one for once.

The Matrix - as good as ever. Some of the best action pieces ever on film. Sure some it may be slightly dated but it is still a fantastic audio visual treat. The set-up of the story/universe had so much potential which leads me onto...

The Matrix Reloaded - this was my first viewing for many many years and yes, they took some of the action to another level, there's lots of lovely coreographed and shot fight scenes, brilliant action scenes and some memorable characters. BUT, oh what were they thinking when they wrote the plot (dialogue also)? Indeed what plot? The "rave" scenes would surely rank up there as some of the most cringeworthy in cinema history. Absolutely dire stuff. Now I can suspend my belief in almost any movie/game BUT you need to set the rules and most importantly, be consistent with those rules of your universe. The deus ex machina at the climax is lazy, imbelic and for me, a step too far that takes me completely out of the immersion.

They played the trilogy back to back so on my IQ2 box, The Matrix Revolutions is next on the agenda........I'm not sure I can force myself to watch it though.....will report back later.

I prefer watching them all together. Not in one sitting, but close together, then I like them all. Individually, I love the first one and will watch a few set-pieces from the second but I never watch the third by itself; it's just too silly for me and there's nothing particularly stand-outish to make me watch select scenes(didn't particularly like the Neo/Smith fight). As part of the whole I can let it off a bit, though.

Seems to be a problem in most American movies, they completely missed the boat when it comes to rave culture, typically coming across as ludicrous when portrayed in films, it never works.

It's up there with the shear terror of graphically realised computer mainframes/bespoke OS hacking scenes.

I watched all eight Harry Potter movies. (7/10)
                    and X-Men First Class (9/10)

I used to pray for a film to use computers realistically instead of EMAIL ACTIVATE or TRIANGULATING GPS SIGNAL but then while I was watching Kick Ass with all its iPhone integration I was wishing for the good old days of awful mock-ups. Probably because it felt too much like product placement than them making things seem more... realistic.

agreed - quite a slow burner and abit bizzare in places, but fantastic

I'd have believed it, but it was an Apple Powerbook. Apple products are an arse to get talking to any other non-Apple device, especially circa '96.

In my mind, this is the worst hacking scene EVER!

X-Men First Class - not too bad, not too bad. Reasonable performances (except January Jones) & script (except for the clunky bits at the end). McAvoy's 'finger-to-head' mind reading tell was annoying though.
