It's nice to see the metacritic user score come in much higher than the critics one. Rereading some of the poorer reviews shows that despite some points I can agree with mostly the reviewers often missed the point of the film or were hung up on the Reeves era. The comments fields are often funny, many getting ripped apart for putting ego and cheap site visits ahead of whether general audiences will like and appreciate a viewing.

It's the same on RT. Everyone's bumming Reeves.

There's plenty of action and the spectacle of EVERYTHING blowing up is impressive. Effects wise I can't think of a better movie. My issue is, after watching lots of things blowing up for quite a while, I didn't care any more and just wanted the film to end. This is largely because the characters, their relationships, and the elements that make Superman interesting are barely touched on. But you do get to see lots of **** blow up.

tbh if it was about a different superhero, someone new or someone I didn't really care about, I probably would have enjoyed it more. It still would have been popcorn munching eye porn rather than a good film, though.

Marvel Studios didn't have the budget to being with (I'm guessing they do now with Disney backing). They still lack the imagination and the balls to do anything with MOS level of tonal depth and action. MOS is not exactly complex but WB's using quality actors in each part who have well fleshed out roles and not flipping pin up model tarts makes a big difference. They have that AND crazy satisfactory action of comicbook heros using their powers more than once lol

Marvel should have had Hulk fooking mans up from the first movie and not wait until the last 20 mins of Avengers. Even then he's undercooked.

              So, to clarify...

              This is Superman's Dad:

              ...and this is his step-dad?

Saw it at the proper IMAX the other night and firmly enjoyed it

Just nice to see the amount of destruction you get from two super humans scrapping

annoyed they killed off Zod, massive fight one bred for combat who suddenly gets into a headlock and can't escape so his neck is broken, preferred Superman 2 in how they managed to beat them - Ursa is more sexy than Faora Il and finally I liked Jonathan Kent in this but didn't like how he died even though it was pretty integral to the story

Didn't get the same feeling with this at the IMAX as I did with the latest Star Trek - was any of man of steel filmed with IMAX cameras?

No, I believe it was converted.

this has me lol'ing from beginning to end:

                    That's probably it

I'm sure if something is filmed with IMAX camera's is gonna look better than something that's converted into IMAX

The same as normal 2d which is transformed into 3d instead of being filmed in 3d

Think Star Trek had around 30 minutes filmed with IMAX cameras and that added to it

Anyway Lawrence fishbourne has pretty much doubled in size since I last saw him

That scene where Fishbourne runs away from a falling building was having me chuckle.

                      Chunky

I don't think he will be doing anymore matrix movies - dont think the matrix could take it, bullet time wouldn't be a problem as you could pretty much shoot anywhere and you would probably hit him

Saw a list of easter eggs in the film, very interesting stuff. Hadn't even realised it covered nods to Smallville, a hint of Booster Gold and even directly showing the woman who would later become Star Sapphire

dunno about the Star Sapphire one but I did enjoy

Check the watertower in the town where Clark grew up (smallville is written on it)

Never got the others mentioned here like the satellite for example
