As I said earlier, Lucas did not have 100% control over the original Star Wars. If he had, it would definitely have been worse. The man himself has probably changed a lot since then too. He once said 'a special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing'. Hardly matches up with the person he is today, does it?

You follow Seth MacFarlane on Twitter? And I used to think you were a cool guy.

No, someone retweeted it. I'm still cool, right? Right?

The story should be left to the cg tv show type format, along with videogames.

The universe is too big to bother trying to encapsulate it in further films.....especially if they rather miss the mark like the prequels did.

I liked the idea of Shadows of the Empire being a canonical entry into the movies series, only as a videogame. Just a shame the game was almost entirely crap.

I read the book for some reason. It actually wasn't bad.

Do you watch the utter w*nk that gets released these days? AoD was awesome, funnier than ED2 but just not as dark.

                    ON TOPIC:

Michael A Stackpole's X-Wing novels were brilliant and I would LOVE to see those made into movies.

Apparently its going off on its own direction and will be an original story disney has stated. For the best i think, having its own legs to stand on.

Oh dear, doesnt bother so much but hardcore SW fans are probably going to be upset it doesnt involve Luke resetting up the Jedi acadamy and Han and Leias kids one of which goes off into the dark side.

Im skeptical as we've all seen episode 1 & 2. 3 is pretty good and the best of them. As stated earlier all the classic characters are dead, or actors to old to come back to, but stranger things have happened.

I agree with this. I think they'll stand more chance of doing something good if they aren't bound too much by existing material and it will also avoid direct extended universe comparisons that could have the hardcore fans up in arms if they don't treat them exactly like the books/games/toys/duvet covers/fanfiction.

                              But still with stormtroopers, yes?

Latest announcement says it will be called Star Wars 7: Stormtroopers on the Range.

It will be a comedy in the vein of Police Academy where all the remaining Stormtroopers that didn't get blown up all go and learn how to shoot and also how to avoid getting shot by running into the open during a laser gun fight.
