Anybody bought Pearl Jam's Ten: Legacy Edition yet? Or maybe the Deluxe Edition or even the crazy Memorabilia Collectors Edition at ?99:99?

I'm tempted to buy either the 2 or 3 disc version I'm wondering what people think about the set.

I discovered the original(and much better) version of the dance hit 'Call on Me'

Wait a bit[1minute] - and you will hear the infamous "Call on me" chorus

It's from 1982 - and sung by Steve Winwood. I think the original is far better than the simplistic version by Eric Prydz. The only great thing about the modern edition - is the video with the babes in spandex.

Original being better than dance remix shocker. Good track. Does he say "Call on me, furry" at one point?

Currently listening to Grace/Wastelands by Peter Doherty.

            I like it a lot, although I am a fan. It's only ?3 on Amazon MP3.

The song is called 'Valerie' ... He says "Call on me, Valerie"

Much better than the dumbed down remix( which isn't bad - but now.. I've heard the original, I much prefer it. ) A really great 80s tune.

A crazy German guy goes travelling round Africa with turntables and a scratchmixer for three years to pick up rare vinyl. This is the result.

I've bought the three-disc set and it's brilliant. The redux mix brings new life to some of the tracks, especially if you're listening with a good set of headphones, and the remastering of the original CD is great as well - I always thought the original CD was very flat.

Have also just watched the MTV unplugged dvd and that's essential as well - now to find a way to rip it to AAC files...

I'd say the 3-disc is well worth it if you're a fan of the album/band John.

Damn that album holds up well

Watched an interesting documentary on DVD about Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album, entitled A Classic Album Under Review. Don't think it's an official authorised release because there is very little input from Kate, just occasional archival snippets here and there. There's a rundown of her career up until the release of the album under the spotlight, then journos and musicians who worked on the record dissect each track and explain how it was made and what the hell it's about. I never knew the second half of the album when it goes all weird and experimental was a concept piece about a drowning woman.

Also been listening to more Talk Talk. In fact, I've been obsessing over their stuff lately. The last two studio albums, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, are masterpieces. Neither albums contain anything resembling a single, though. 'I Believe In You' off Spirit of Eden is about as radio friendly as it gets...

After the commercial success of The Colour of Spring album in '86, it seemed that the world was theirs for the taking. They really could've been as big as U2, playing sell-out stadium tours to this day, if only they had repeated themselves. But they turned their backs on it and retreated to the studio to reinvent themselves with Spirit of Eden. Not a pseudo reinvention like Achtung Baby, which was really just The Joshua Tree with added bells and whistles. A real reinvention. Music of harrowing intensity and heartbreaking fragile beauty. Music that feels so intimate that it makes you feel like like you're intruding. They couldn't care less about the commercial consequences of making a record which would give marketing men nightmares, so their record company took them to court and sued them. Thankfully, the band won, and went on to make Laughing Stock several years later, an even more uncompromising record, which probably went on to sell about six copies. I love that. I think it's heroic.

Yet part of me feels sad that this is one band unlikely to reform to cash in on the demand for nostalgia. Mark Hollis, singer and songwriter, once said "Before you play two notes learn to play one note, and don't play one note unless you've got a reason to play it."

                          Sums that track up perfectly.
