Just to clarify a few facts:

• The producer, Oisin Tymon, had worked on Top Gear for ten years.
• Clarkson was angry because there was no hot food in the hotel they were staying at during filming.
• Clarkson verbally, then physically abused Tymon, then continued to verbally assault him.
• Tymon went to A&E to have himself checked out.
• Clarkson reported himself to the BBC.

At no point did Tymon "grass" Clarkson up.

I missed a vital word out in my phrase.... "the producer should have dropped him" meaning he should have battered Clarkson, it makes more sense... It's my local colloquialism that may not come across well.

I think they might be too busy dealing with refunds for the live shows.

It wasn't the local colloquialism that threw me, it was the missing "him" and "had"!

Latest inkling is that the BBc are throwing money in May and Hammonds faces to stay on for the new series and that they'll have a guest presenter join them each week as they do with Have I Got News For You
