now I've read some discussion about the episode. This episode is getting excellent reviews but it bugged me a lot,

the FBI girl shouldn't have fallen into Light's trap so easily with giving him her name. I'm sure that was supposed to show how clever he is but he wasn't doing a good job in that episode. He was suspicious and creepy the whole time, there's no way I'd believe a high school kid was in the investigation so an ex-FBI agent definitely shouldn't have done.

I do think it's a great show though and would recommend it to anyone.

But you're forgetting that she also overheard him talking to the guy at reception in the last episode. That receptionist guy, mentioned that Light had helped out the police on an earlier case and then when Light was questioned by that guy about whether he was helping out on the Kira case, Light confirmed it. So it's not just coming from Light's mouth, the other guy also said it, and from what she was hearing it's not unheard of for him to be helping out on other cases too. Plus the way he starts talking to her in that episode about how he thinks Kira can control people shows her that he's arriving at similar conclusions and is possibly at a similar skill level to her i.e. he says it first and she only nods her head in agreement. I reckon if he had asked her what she thought about the case then she might have been more suspicious. So I can see why she might trust that he is on the investigation. She's not exactly stupid herself, but I can see how she would fall into Light's trap. IMO they did a good job of showing how clever he was.

edit: also it's not like she fell into the trap that easily. After all she fooled him first by giving him a fake name.

I thought it was a pretty decent ep of Death Note overall,

though I agree Light never sounded convincing at all throughout the conversation. In fact, he sounded so nieve that he could never be part of thr investigation like he was claiming he was.
Still, she was foolish enough to give her name away - if she'd of gave another alias (he'd not have known, though I suppose she'd of needed fake ID - coincidence L gave them to the cops this very episode?), he'd of told her he was Kira, and she'd of lived to tell about it.

Interesting that Light considered getting her down a back alley and forcing her name out of her - shows that dispite his vision of himself as freeing the world from evil, his mind can work in the same way too if it's to help him acieve his goal... suppose that's the point.

I agree with everything you said but you mustn't forget theres something else you witnessing in that scene.

You can't forget the pov of Aizawa. it can't be just luck that its him witnessing this coversation between Light (viewed from behind) and seeing Naomi in front of him in full view. That pov must be important later on, investigation etc. Judging from the opening she must play a pivotal role, whether she dies or not. If indeed that is her with her fiancee's corpse on her lap.

Just watched up to ep 6 of D.Grey-Man aswell. Im getting the same feeling from it like you did Shakey, it does feel a bit like FMA while not being anything like it. Im really enjoying it so far.

Special Edition II - The Far-Away Dawn (ep22-40)
Special Edition III - The Rumbling Sky (ep41-50)
must cost you a bomb buying all these Anime's

all i can afford is the cut and shuts i'm afraid

anyhoo watched the first disc and there seem to be slight improvements according to Wiki - but its decent stuff, i'm kinda new to the whole Gundam set up and the stories are good

From what i've seem its as good as Destiny imo, but little things are missing like the Tannhauser cannon on archangel and i always like it when they shouted their name, class of gundam and launching when the were slingshot out of there base ship, but this might have been shortened to fit all the episodes into a 95 minute movie and the sky grasper came into it quite late on in the 1st disc and you dont actually see it connect to strike like you saw it connect to Freedom or strike freedom or even Justice if i remember

but on disc 2 - the 2nd movie you get a wee run up of whats happened and it mentions a battle in the desert and in the red sea prior to the zaft base in Gibraltar - but you never see the battle in the red sea - which is a shame

Cost me nothing, downloaded and watched Seed as is was subbed(usually the week after it aired in japan). The only time i buy is when it a series or show i hold dear and want top quality picture and the packaging stuff (like Azumanga, Hyper Police, Cowboy Bebop, Cromartie High to name some)

Also not sure what your on about with the grass hopper, it never connected to Strike just occasionally carried equipment swaps in the heat of battle (from Sword Strike/Gun+Shield/Cannon). Grasshopper was finished with when certain person piloting it croaks it, Freedom and Justice connected to Massive Nuclear power packs with loads of guns on them, from what i remember.

Seriously, you might as well just watch SEED in its entirety. I imagine you'll be missing out on a fair bit by just watching the movies. There's no way they'll be able to fit everything into the movies and whilst some of the episodes were flashbacks/non-essential viewing I still think it's a better way to watch it. Especially now that you should be able to get the whole show in one form or another.

Also I'll just pipe in with some comments about the anime buying. I'm in exactly the same boat as Tobal. I don't buy as much anime as I watch but then if I did buy all that I watched I wouldn't have seen half of the shows I have. I watch mostly fansubbed shows and, like Tobal, those that I really like I buy eventually or plan to buy when the boxed sets come out perhaps earlier if there's some good pre-order bonuses. I've recently taken to buying the Japanese R2s of certain shows that I really, really love and that is proving to be really expensive. So I still think I contribute enough to the industry in one form or another(whatever that is worth). Just an fyi, on my list of stuff to get is Full Metal Panic(the entire series, I currently have the first one, just need fumoffu and second raid), Planetes, Mushishi, School Rumble, and maybe one really big show from either Eureka 7 or Full Metal Alchemist. I'm waiting for some price drops on some of them but if I see a really good deal on extras and stuff I may well go for them. My R2 collection is basically Aria the Natural, Suzumiya Haruhi and H&C season 2.

i dont think i typed Grass hopper - infact after checking i didnt

i did type sky grasper however and thats the aircraft that connects to Freedom or strikes back

sorry i must have read you wrong as i thought you were having a go at me for buying a cut and shut movie - just seemed by the comment that i wasnt hardcore enough to watch all 50 episodes and somebody who watches fansubs for free shouldn't be making remarks like that - thats why i thought you bought them, seems anime fans who actually buy all the stuff seem to think they are more 'hardcore' than everybody else - so my bad

i only started downloading anime around the time destiny was being shown, so the chances of getting decent torrents of seed now will be a nightmare

anywho i've downloaded most of my stuff as well and its made me buy:
                Samurai Champloo: complete set
                ninja scroll: complete set
                gundam seed movie special
Full metal panic and fumoffu sets
                Trigun complete set

once decent sets are available i will be buying:
                Full metal Alchemist
                the 2nd raid
                black cat
                seed destiny

i havent downloaded much in the last few months as there hasnt been much that i've heard alot about

Well you're always welcome to ask around for one of us to provide you with some stuff. I would be more than happy to oblige though I can't speak for anyone else but I'm sure Tobal might hook you up too(he certainly has done for me in the past). Only thing is, I think I've lost my DVD-Rs which had SEED on them :/

If it's any help you might be able to find torrents on some sites such as KAA's (KickAssAnime). I know they've done up to episode 44(out of 50) and they're torrents are usually well seeded so it might be worth checking out.

edit: I would strongly recommend you watch SEED fully rather than just checking out the movies.

okay will see what i can do and if anybody has the seed episodes - please pm me

i did watch all 50 of the destiny series and i really enjoyed it, 50ish episodes its really my limit

kinda like the low running series (champloo, black cat, FMP) and the most i think i've watched would be alchemist at about 53 episodes i think

things like Naruto and bleach are just too much for me, they might be excellent but i just dont have the time to watch over 150 episodes in each series

The series is at last count on episode 103 and still going. Doesn't look like it's finishing soon either. There's only one movie I think, a quick check on anidb shows it's coming in December. Don't know how reliable that is. There are one or two OVAs but I don't think they're essential viewing. Well, I've done fine without watching them so far. Hope that helps
