I might get beaten with a large pole here but I'm very partial to a good bit of Bleach.
Been a staple of mine for a while now.

Hilarious in parts & just plain good old fashioned fun.

A few others I can recommend...

      Death Note
      Gantz
      Chrono Crusade
      Hellsing Ultimate
      Gunslinger Girl
      Appleseed
      Appleseed: EX Machina
      Blue Dragon
      Vexille
Sky Crawlers (Blu-Ray is simply Gorgeous)
      Blue Sky
      Elfen Leid
      Wolf's Rain
      Witch Hunter Robin

There are alot more but those are off the top of my head

I use to like Bleach but i got tired of it, the constant filler and drab characters really didn't do anything for me.

One Piece is the way to go if you want to invest in a long weekly series.

I understand what you mean about Bleach it can be very dull during the filler sections but still enjoy it.

Now I've never once enjoyed One Piece, tried watching the terrible Carton Network dub & then even attempted the downloaded fansubs both of which just left me a little cold.

The barrier for anyone getting into One Piece is the fact that the series has evolved so much since the original episodes. The content has grown up along with the audience, and has really grown into one of the most fascinating shows around. I'd say the first 50 episodes or so wouldn't give that impression to a newcomer, so it requires a certain amount of 'endurance'.

Ah now you see that's potentially my problem right there.
I need something that grabs me from the beginning & wont let go, I don't really want to have to get through 50 episodes before it starts getting good.

              I think that's why I like things like Bleach & DB:Z

Both of which while slowish burners had enough going on right away to keep me engrossed & make me want to keep watching & because of that I can pretty much forgive all the filler episodes because I'm dying to see what happens afterwards.

Elfen Laid was a complete train wreck, how can you recommend that to anyone?

Im a terrible person to point this out but avoid at all costs Blue Dragon, Sky Crawlers, Elfien Leid, anything appleseed in CGI, Chrono Crusade and Gantz. Mainly avoid Gantz because it starts making up story after the brilliant Buddha mission to give it a terrible 2nd half.

Bleach, it may have started well but after the 1st SS arc it just become complete rubbish to point Kubo can't be arsed to draw backgrounds and fights are all power level DBZ nonense with deus ex machina out the arse. As a few others have said if you need some adventure/fighting like Bleach, get One Piece as its worth the investment, small details or background characters in even the begining episodes come into play 100's of ep down the line(i would love to point some out but it would ruin the enjoyment of finding out), the story is well thoughtout, and until the recent manga chapter around 590 there have been no training arc's, and im pretty sure no tournaments at all.

You see this is why things like "recommend me" threads are pretty useless.

Because everything is personal opinion it gets difficult to recommend things I personally really enjoyed everything I listed & it might not be "proper" anime to most but as long as I have fun watching it & it entertains me then I'm more than a happy bunny.

That's true but I use it as a idea of shows to see or trailers to watch

I've still got a database of 500 or so anime reviews (which I wrote about 80% of) on my PC from my (now dead) site. Ah so much wasted lifespan... Could've written several novels instead of them...

Recommendations threads are handy but I find it's always worth a bit of quantifying or descriptions.

Seinen shows in particular are ones that need warnings. They've a tendency to be as cruel as possible (especially Gantz and Elfen Lied).

Likewise stuff like Kodomo No Jikan is something that you just don't want on your HDD.

Anyhow: final Autumn Anime chart + descriptions.

Looks to be a good season

Fair amount of harem but only 2 moe fests I can see.

just watched the first episode of high school of the dead and it was alright

did like the music throughout the episode, when it seemed it was all lost and the school was being attacked i'm sure that was music from bio-hazard and at the end before the change the music was from 28 days later or 28 weeks later

both pretty good nods to other media in the same genre

My Little SisterCant Be This Cute and Ika Musume look cool.

There's some dark looking stuff this fall too.

I dropped Highschool of the Dead like a ton of bricks. Shallow characters and rediculous amounts of fanservice, if i wanted to see that kind of stuff i'd watch a hentai.
