Vampite Knight ep1: Finally a group I recognise for this. Bit meh overall really. Lots of repetition about the girl's past and the bishonen guys annoy me although this probably down to them doing nothing. I'll probably give it another ep before I decide to drop it or not.

Nabari no Ou ep 1: Zomg Ninjas. Quite liked this. The fight scenes were very well done and the story seems quite good. Bit odd to hear hear Kugimiya Rie doing a male character again after so many female ones but it works. Overall, a good start.

Mmenosyne ep3: More blood and softcore lesbianism yay! Particularly nice scene by Rie too.

2nd time skip of the series with a fairly brutal end to Maeno. =( Still no idea about the tree or the evil dude yet though.

just got round to watching Gundam 00 24&25: ill repeat the sentiments so far: was kick ass ending to a superb series, cant wait for its continuation in about 6 months time, this is what gundam should be not the whine fest that was Destiny

i was quite surprised at how many people they killed of in those last 2 episodes, or alluded to killing off. Still all that combat was just brilliantly done, especially Al/Hal hairstyle hax with the crippled kyrios. The only thing that bugged me was the the fight with graham seemed abit random and abit forced, nevertheless it was awesome.

          Predictions for season 2:

Well it looks like there working on a 3rd generation gundams (from that little bit about the 00, it seem's 00 was 1st gen, Exia etc 2nd gen), as well as the 00 coming back into comission, and theyve pretty much solidified the tried and tested rules of mecha: that the Prototype/1st gen will always be better than any later models

Nena did survive then, and from that brief glimpse seems to have suddenly developed those weird Veda eyes, im guessing she's gonna be part of the new CB team, along with the Tieria (or his female twin or clone or something) and was that Louise with him/her, i also have suspicions that setsuna will make a re-apearnace, maybe not straight away but maybe later on like Jesus from Destiny. i also suspect saji will be in the seat of a MS be that a UN one or gundam, possibly against Louise? who knows

and it seems like Ribbons and this innovator will be or big bad enemy for the 2nd series, and al will be his usual bastard merc self

also Graham has finally filled the role every gundam has, a guy in a silly mask

Also why im here i couldn't believe it when i was reading japanator this morning and noticed theyd done a article on the Suzaki thread from 4chan last night, i knew they lurked there but its the first time ive seen them write about a thread, did make me chuckle as did re-looking through some of the shops

            I thought the one with

Tieria was Feldt. The reason she had a different hairstyle was because she listened to Chris and became more fashionable or something.

Zomg, different interpretation number 3, I thought it was

Sumeragi with different hair style. Although, if I'm honest, I was more interested in trying to work out if Tieria's laugh was male or female.

right just took a couple of quick grabs, and cobbled together a quick comparison:

from the start its not sumeragi, shes got brown eyes, out of the two remaining id still have to go with louise as feldts eye's seem abit more on the blue side compared to louise and the mystery woman and for some reason id doubt they change feldts hair colour/style that dramatically, its by no means conclusive as all 3 have very similar eye colour

So Gundam 00 does in fact become good near the end? Damn, means I'll have to download and watch it then (I'd dropped it after about 3 eps).

Right, ready for some flash reviews?

It does turn out that I had one last episode of Spice & Wolf to add. I'd like to retract my previous comments: it ends nicely, although I agree that it deserves at least another whole season.

Mnemosyne ep. 3: See, I told you this show would work much better if/when they'd tone town the yuri porn angle. Despite an unexplained french maid outfit near the beginning (why the heck is that even called a french maid outfit? We sure don't have any of those here), there are almost no sex scenes (although there's a pedo one -- yuck but not illogical) and

a certainly unexpected, but kickass, end to a very likeable character. I'd have liked him to actually score the kill on mecha-piercing-sadist-cosmonaut girl, though

. Which results in a good episode, despite the crap Photoshop filter abuse, and the ridiculous notion that a world-class hacker would even consider using Vista as her primary OS.

Macross Frontier ep. 2: Wherein it is, once again, revealed that the varitech is the most awesome mecha design ever. Discuss.

Gundam00 gets really good after the 1st couple of ass whoopings by CB on the countries, pretty much by the time the thrones turn up its becomes GUNDAM (in setsuna's words ).

Also back to the ending and the mecha shown,

i thought they showed 2 new mechas, the Old prototype 0 and new 00.. my betting is 00 for set until its get thrashed and then its back down to 0 to win the day as it the 1st GUNDAM and problerly has some kind of untested secret **** installed in it.

Not much to discuss, Veritech's are the most awesome mecha design ever...EVER! hehe

Special A & Zettai Karen Children 02 - more of the same really, not much to say

Nabari no Ou 1&2 - the first ep was pretty cool, especially those fight scenes, they were very well done, and hopefully a hint at what's to come in later episodes, the more comedic / light hearted scenes were also handled fairly well, Miharu's general attitude towards everything is rather amusing, as are his little dips into trap territory, especially the reaction of the 2 guys in that basketball scene in ep2

So I put most of my normal viewing on hold to watch a movie today and I'm so glad I did. It's called Sword of the Stranger and it's a BONES production. And good god what a production. There are some superb visuals on display here and the animation is top notch throughout. Fantastically epic music too. It's a simple story well told, IMO, with some good old fashioned bloodshed. It can be really brutal in places and some of the battles are beautifully animated and choreographed.

I particularly loved the build up to the first face off that the two of them had and really words fail at the awesomeness of the final confrontation

It's set in the Sengoku era, you know the feudal japan thing. So if you're after some good old fashioned samurai style slash 'em up, look no further. And even if you're not watch it anyway. The subs were okay but very basic (I don't have a problem with that though). Everything should be available on tokyotosho. You just need to grab the raw and separate .ass file. Just to help you on the way it's tagged [Q-R] as in quantum-raws. No idea who did the subs for it, but I just noticed that they appeared today and I'd been wanting to watch this for a while.

I'd put it up there with the likes of Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo, although it's a different kind of movie. I still prefer that movie because I just have a bit of a soft spot for that kind of thing. Anyway, go watch it!

edit: it's come to my attention that some "proper" groups will be subbing it and in shiny, spangly HD (the release I watched was from a DVD rip) so you might want to wait for that blu-ray ripped release. I'd just say that the current bare bones (arf!) subs are servicable and good enough. I'll probably replace them with the HD stuff whenever it comes. In the mean time I'm often to grab the soundtrack which handily enough also has a torrent.

Hmm, I had this clocked earlier since a couple of people on neogaf(who also made the .ass) were raving about it and they generally hate everything so I'll set it for download tonight.

Special A and Zettai Karen Children 2: Pretty much the same thoughts as Orka. Special A I'd say was marginally better but there's still a profound lack of the comedy that I've been told it's supposed to have. That and the whole number 1/2 thing is just getting rather old.
Zettai Karen, I ended up skipping through most of it. They seem to be trying for a Hayate feel but unfortunately it's just not working with the dull characters.

Amatsuki 1: For the love of.... More of Lelouch/Lawrence's VA making his 4th series of the season. On the whole though, it seems alright-ish. Not really sure where it's going but could be reasonable. I echo the statements of the woman at the end that

the main lead just sounds like a pampered rich kid

                            .

Maria-sama ga Miteru: Finally got round to the first season. I feel ashamed to say I like it. >_> Feels so shoujo-y yet I enjoyed it. Reminds me lots of Strawberry Panic only without so much drama. The 'badass manly review' of it made me laugh too.

That review is hilarious. Almost makes me want to watch the show

(not that I could, anyway -- if what I've read is any indication, the (ab)use of French therein is positively dreadful)
