I think I'm immune, not got anything yet even though all the family have had or are suffering right now. Probably spoke too soon mind Was feeling under the weather yesterday so hit the gym HARD and that shook it off easy. Started using the machines rather than weights after playing around last week. Some serious muscle burnage during recovery. Really felt it over the free weights so my technique was clearly off Doing more core work to compensate.

I'm 6'4" and 86 kg (13.5 stone), which is slap bang in the middle of the healthy range for my/our height. I'm pretty slim though, so the charts must be a bit on the sceptical side.

I've just finished drawing up my training plan to take me through to the end of August (and Ironman UK). It's pretty hefty - the general gist of the initial part of it is on my blog here.

My race schedule is nice and varied too (find it here).

I'm in the gym now as well (weights only - I hate doing CV in the gym). I'm generally allergic to them but I need to improve my strength. I'm working on 2 sets of 12 and pushing weight that I can just do - a mix of machine work an free weights. Whole body work, 2wice a week.

I did a turbo training brick tonight (cycle on the turbo in the garage followed by a short run) and I'm a bit bushed (I swam this morning).

At the moment, I'm training 11 times a week, which is probably excessive but most of the sessions are less than an hour. It does require me to get out of my bed a silly o'clock though.

Thanks for the info I still have a little flab I'd like to lose. It could also just be my own perception of it though...

I've had a cold for 2 weeks now. Probably due to a combination of lack of sleep and to actually going into an office for a change and catching everything known to man in one fell swoop.

I tried going for a run after 4 days of it, thinking it had subsided a bit, but just felt lousy. My strength is sapped too, so there's no point in doing any weights - I'll just end up doing myself a mischief.

And my back is sore from trying to move the sofa across the room on my own.

So basically feeling miserable and actually missing exercise for the first time in years (missing, as in wishing I could do some). I'd been doing regular exercise for about 3 months and it was finally starting to pay off and get to that addict stage. Now I've lost all motivation, although hopefully it will come back when this cold / manflu abates.

With the kid being born on Sunday, I'm afraid anything approaching a proper diet has gone to ****. As has sleep. Not been at work all week either, so next week back at the gym is going to hurt.

My 120kg bench target for the year is well and truly shot. TBH I don't think I'll do 110kg again this year unless I start getting some sleep.

Man, I feel for you guys. I can't stand not doing something or other when I'm ill/off/etc. I've been feeling a little under bit I refuse to admit I've caught the recent bought of manfluenza doing the rounds. Still in the gym although my legs are damn sore after yesterdays bike ride (my heart rate shot right up to 190, I was pushing it HARD) and doing circuits today which had far too much cardio in it... I went to jump and I sort of just shuffled where I was standing

Hey, the Wii is out and doing the rounds so maybe sitting at home feeling guilty won't be such a bad thing Chain mate, I started doing MORE when my little 'un was born... don't sweat it! Congrats too man! My little 'un sits on my back while I do press-ups (and she calls me Sporticus, seen it?)... you got loads to look forward to

                        Thanks guys

I'd been using his impending arrival as inspiration to start doing some cardio.

This past week though, so much junk food. On Monday, back in to it 100%. Drop carbs for a few weeks, probably cycle 250 -> 125 -> 50 then back to 250, see how that does.

I don't know though, need my strength! At least I can workout at work so I've not got to go to a gym after / before, that's a huge benefit.

Just had a pretty good session. 45 mins of fairly heavy weights on the big muscles. Then went for a 3 mile run at a fairly brisk pace.

Feel it now. But it feels so good.

I've been so busy with work lately that my exercise has slipped a bit. Its quietened off now and its fantastic to get back into it. I calculate I'm about 200% less ratty with people as a result.

Nah mate but I tell you what. If I had his body, I certainly wouldn't mind the 'tache to go with it

Back of my legs are killing me today, so so tight. The circuits really did tire me out. No pain no gain though, aye. We're always moving in Lazy Town!

My running is going very well at the moment. 3 runs in the last 4 days and I've quickly got back to the point where a reasonably quick 3 miles is not a killer. Excellent
