OK thanks for the advice. It's just this week only and then I'm gonna go down to 3 days a week. I'm mainly doing the cardio stuff. Bike, rowing machine, arm thingy-bob (it's where you sit on a chair and pedal with your arms) and treadmill. I power walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes, where every 2 mins I make it slant 5%, 10%, 15% so it's like I'm walking fast up a hill. It does you good, I know this because it kills

Had a bit of a lazy weekend and have done absolutely zero training since Friday and only 4 sessions last week. And quite nice it is too. So last week looks like this..

      Monday - 11.5 mile hill/trail run
Tuesday - 11.5 mile mountain bike
      Wednesday - Rest
      Thursday - 2 * 8m hill/trail runs
      Friday - 2 * 15m road bike
Weekend - Went to see a film, ate ice cream, stayed at a nice hotel and got a cooked brekkie in bed today

So a bit of a mixed week. I'm finally seeing some benefit in the biking, so I might try a longer MTB session this week. As for the running its the first time I've done two in one day and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Its also the first time I've nearly hit 30 miles in a week for a very long time, so with 4 runs I should be just over that next week which is great progress.

Well I had a week off running when I went to the middle east, jet lag and 45 degree heat does that to you. Then I got back and got a chest infection so had another week off. Managed to put on a stone in the last month and have felt letharic and unmotivated. Felt dead cheesed off so I checked my running log and found exactly same had happened last year and my average monthly mileage for June went from 200+ to 90 exactly the same this year. So enjoyed the break and now finally getting back into it. 13miles hills on sunday back in deep end and 6mile tempo run last night. Feel stiff achy and great. Rest tonight then track on wed, hard work is going to be only way to lose this gut Ive started to develop

What did you end up getting? I didn't get my Imagic at the time, but I'm about to sort it out, since I'm going to have to do some turbo work in August because baby number 2 is due then.

I'm in pretty good shape. Training about 9 times a week at the moment

Monday AM Optional easy run PM Open water swimming for about an hour
Tuesday AM Masters swimming in 50m pool PM 8 mile hill run
Wednesday PM Time trial (anything between 10 and 25 miles)
Thursday AM Masters swimming PM Cycle 25 miles
          Friday OFF
Saturday AM Cycle 40 miles mod-hard and 5 mile run
Sunday AM Cycle 60 miles hills

I vary it a bit but that's more or less it. I did my first triathlon last month (read all about it) and I've got a standard distance tri (with a sea swim) in a couple of weeks and then 2 mountain-based triathlons in September (Helvellyn and Ben Nevis).

My swimming is going well - I'm not too quick yet but I'm getting there. I had gastroenteritis in May which set me back a bit but I'm tip top right now. I just need to maintain my form and make some progression to my endurance.

I ran 10 miles yesterday, which is easily the most I've ever done. I, unsurprisingly, ache

Your links don't seem to work, recipher, hope your training goes well!

They work for me, which is odd. What's happening?

Works fine for me now. It took ages to load before and when it did it produced a could-not-find-file error. Great read!

Entered the 125th Much Wenlock Olympian Games today, maybe not as prestigious as the 2012 ones but great fun nonetheless also reckoned to have started in 1850 and therefore predates the other Olmypics by quite a way. Did the 7mile road race, actually 7miles 300 meters did 49mins17 which was IMHO a good result it was def the milliest course I've run for first 3 miles then was great fun. Shame going to miss one of our local 10k races next week at Chase Water as going away but if anyones from this area well worth a go

Ah, Much Wenlock, I know it well

Sounds like a bloody good time for 7 miles to me!

Ooh, my sis & brother in law entered there too

Nothing strenuous though, just archery for them

The archery looked serious, it was raining and the targets were miles away how they could hit them from that far away I have no idea. Also made me realise that us runners have by far and away the lest entertaining equipment, bow and arrows aside they had tents and stands and loads of cool stuff :-)

LOL, their equipment is cool, never seen them shoot tho so had no idea how far they have to aim.

DOnt think they did as well as they did last year, my bro-in-law just missed out on Bronze and my sister just said "I was rubbish"

Right now my routine consists solely of Press ups and crunchies.
Taking a brake from the gym you see.

I've never really stopped my training (even when i had 8 months off gym and heavy lifting i still did my running, martial arts and home exercises like press ups etc) but now after a far too long break from gym it feels so refreshing to be back. These past 2 months i've been trying to fit my gym sessions within my work and home life, but it was proving difficult, esp considering i was hit by a really nasty bug that knocked me down for about 4 weeks...

Now though, i've got the time, the money, and the right frame of mind to get things back on track. Feeling so much better already and am getting my strength back, which is very satisfying. Eating lots, drinking lots, but still managing to work hard too so it's all win win.

Visually, i'm nowhere near as big (as in muscle) as i was last year but i'm 100 times more happy so i'm definitely not complaining
