My camera got all fogged up in the butterfly bit there ! I like the otters - reminds me of meerkats the way they are all lined up.

Anybody planning on paying a visit to the show in 2 weeks? Will be looking to go on the Wednesday, far quieter and more relaxed.
Interesting that they've chosen not to attend - wonder what the thinking is ? Would like to go but it's a bit of a journey..

Couple of random shots from me..

Also, MartyG, clicked through to your shot and ended up at the film stuff you've recently posted from a while back - great stuff there !

Thanks - I thought I'd posted those in this thread actually. Seems not.

These are a couple of them, taken Sept 2000

That lightbulb shot has some interesting reflections - now could you have also made them light-up?

just got my new Olympus XZ-1 compact thru, the white model. I'm not much of a snapper but the F1.8 lens and top reviews got me tempted as I love a new toy.

I'm not the best but here are a couple of handheld super macro shots taken in natural light, indoors, with no flash, the XZ-1 has an incredibly fast lens its fair to say

Fast lenses are always nice, pity I don't have many

Looks great handheld, i'd struggle with my setup without a tripod to take shots like that.

You say that, but those are great. Nice and sharp and lovely colours / lighting.

I've done another short video - it's a bit similar in theme to the first winter one I did, but was taken the next day when it wasn't slashing down with snow.

Music: Frozen Silence by Celestial Aeon Project. This is the second set of footage taken late last year. The first one can be found at www.flickr.com/photos/51347015@N06/5272018164/in/set-7215... but technical issues with my PC stopped me putting it together until now. It taught me a harsh lesson about the restrictions of the optical zoom on the G12 when using video, demonstrated by the footage in the middle which isn't very good quality. But you get the idea. Was amazing to see and hopefully this footage captures some of that.

thanks Spatial, over than framing it I don't take much credit as these are all on auto modes.

bearing in mind this is a small compact camera with smaller sensor I'm very impressed with what it can turn out, took a couple of handheld night shots at Canary Wharf on way home last night, no post processing here at all.

and finally this uses one of the 6 in camera 'art filters'

I do like the look of the Olympus XZ-1 and it would appear to produce some nice shots.

It reminds me of the Olympus CX0X0 series with their nice fast f1.8 optics (have a c2040, c3030, c4040 and c5050 of varying ages) - I'm considering replacements for my take-everywhere Exilim ex-z850 at the mo as the view screen has decided to grow a whole load of dead pixels on it The XZ-1 is definitely looking like a contender from what I'm seeing here.

I'm quite taken with it, its got lovely weighty build quality. check out the nerd forums on DPReview though, there seems to be some debate around JPEG smearing which is all going a bit over my head.

I bought it as a go anywhere camera with a lot of flexibility if I improved my knowledge but that also did excellent point and click in a range of settings. On that count it doesn't appear to disappoint after a couple of days, i'm taking it everywhere with me at the moment.

Holy mackerel, 7,000 replies to this thread! Not bad going shutterbugs. The banter thread may have 10k, but this is (almost) all on-topic.

I haven't posted on here much lately, as I've been way busy with web design stuff. I did manage to make myself a new site (http://jodiwarren.com/, excuse the self-link) back in November, but it's been woefully quiet since then.

Lately, I've been using my Olympus 35DC (pretty awesome little camera) as a walkaround pocket shooter, and it's just been wonderful to have something so much smaller than my 5D. I love using an SLR, but I'm now starting to see the appeal of the 4/3rds cameras.

A few more from Birmingham's lovely tourist areas....

(recently being shooting street stuff - hence all the exciting run down buildings)

Been getting a bit of gadget fever this afternoon and mooching around for new kit (that I neither need, nor can I afford right now).

Stumbled across the price of the Fujifilm X100 - looks brilliant but £1000 for a compact, even if it is higher end stuff, is pretty insane.
