      A sleeping cat.

Shot wide open with no USM. I think it's fair to say that the 70-200 f/4 IS may well be in prime territory.

Nice and clear!, looks a nice lens.

In todays news, played with a Eos 1D Mk III. Very nice camera, quite light compared to the old model. Still this was a pre-production model (1 of 5 in the uk apparantly) so still unable to fit a memory card and fire away. I love the information display on the side of the viewfinder, geared very much to those who need to stay focused on the subject.

Impressed with the 600mm lens as well. IS in mode 2 works really well when used on a tripod

GT, welcome to three weeks ago!! Only kidding. I had a play with a Mk III and it is great but don't you think it feels a bit plasticky?

I did, thought that maybe down to it being a pre-production unit.

I thought you were using a fish-eye lens

Some nice pics again - this thread is great for inspiring you to go out and use your camera some more.

I've been mulling around on eBay again, taking pot shots on cheap digital cameras. It's like an obsession, trying to find the best cheap camera I can for taking out and not caring if I drop/break/loose it on a night out. Does anyone else do this?

Someone needs to stop me ... that's two Vivitar DVR-310 cams I've won for under £20 each in the last couple of weeks.

Maybe that is how they shaved the weight. The chassis is magnesium alloy and the battery is probably lighter. Then again my 30D and, no doubt, your 5D also feel the same. Compared to the 1Ds though they do feel like toys. Outstanding toys, I might add.

The battery is much lighter (and smaller) than the previous model. The weight didn't feel too much different compared to my 5D + Battery Grip (2x batteries). I'm just waiting for the price to fall to current 1D Mark IIn prices before I buy it (and if finances allow).

Yes, I think its roughly the same as a 5D with grip. A price drop means you might have to wait a bit though.

Another one of my daft projects taken with my £12 Vivitar 3345 - http://picasaweb.google.com/martypg/WorkToHome/

                        Quality ...... pause ...... not.

Managed to pick up a 'Leica' D Elmarit 14-50mm lens this week, although it's physically big and heavy the IS does seem to work extremely well. First time I've got a free camera body with a lens as well
