Back from the Elm Tree in Durham - it was a bit - meh!
The pub has 4 handpulls and on a normal basis you're happy going there and getting 2 newbies.
The festival was for local beers. Got 3 new ones.
Summit Wicked. Durham. 3.9 (Beer Launch)
Bishop's Best. Black Paw. 3.8 (New Brewery)
Cherry. Hill Island. 3.9
The 4th handpull was Black Velvet also by Durham but I've had that before.
Prinny and I have had 3 beer hauls there before so it was a tad disappointing - I thought they'd have had extra handpulls on especially. That said there was free pasties and pie so it wasn't a complete let down. And you can never beat a cheeky 3 pint afternoon. Now I'm in the mood I've come back home to start on those 22. First up Bonnets Rouges by Brasserie Lancelot - one of an 8 strong haul from France. 5.5% and damn tasty. Brewed to celebrate a peasant revolt in Brittany according to my translation of the french garb on the back of the bottle.
Crack on!
