I have to say, based on my own location, the service is a shambles at the moment. One of the reasons why we were striking was because of changes imposed on us by RM without any kind of area based negotiation.

The network has gone under a complete revision across all functions, and always in these cases there will be "teething trouble", as my line manager put it to me last night. Admittedly I'm biased, but it doesn't seem the wisest move to me to implement changes straight after a bitter industrial dispute when there is still a backlog of mail to be cleared.

If it still hasn't turned up tomorrow, get on the phone to RM and complain like ****.
I'm in Shropshire, Midlands. But then again, I don't know where Genki is based. Hopefully it will just turn up tomorrow, don't really fancy making phone calls to chase it up.

If you are in Shropshire. Assuming Wolverhampton is your main mail centre. There is massive backlog there. So it might be a problem.

I'm a bit confused how the post travels, anyone care to explain?

Say I live in Manchester sending something to the Isle of Man, how does that work?

I had this letter on my fitting after my day off last week.

              WOOOHOO!!

Just to let you guys know, my parcel arrived today, safe and sound, so it took exactly seven days for a first class recorded item to arrive in Scotland from england, which is pretty damn long, but the posty explained to me, that it was the wild cat strikes that are holding everything up, if your mail had to go through one of the depots doing that, they have cages upon cages, upon cages of packets to get througfh, and ebay just makes thw situation worse everyday, as there are millions of new parcels stacking up, with special delivery now being used in nearly all cases, the post depot's are finding it damn near impossible to get through the buildup of mail, that has accrued during the strike, and after since special delivery has to get first priority.

Interesting chat with the posty this morning, as she was assistant manger of my depot having to do a round today cause there are so many postmen off with the flu going round.

Anyway, what she advises, is get it sent special delivery and it willl get first priority, if it's big and really, really important, special delivery by 9am, and if super important, use a courier.

All people waiting on recorded, she said it could even take three weeks in extreme cases, but most depots are hoping their backlogs will be cleared by Monday, or Tuesday next week in Scotland, but in England, they are miles behind with the small packets.

She was also saying that another thing slowing things up, is people reporting the mail as lost, when it is just delayed because of the strike. She couldn't explain that bit to me cause she had to go,lol, I kept her long enough, but I can guess, that people reporting mail lost that is recorded, can be ab hit of a night mare, cause then they will have to do searches for the individual item's, is this right matty, I'm just taking a guess.

I've had stuff from a regular supplier not 60 miles away that arrived at the local sorting office on Tuesday which were sent on the 9th. Not very good at all.

Here mate, that's a bit strong is it not, remember how much pressure these guys are under, and that they will have drafted in temps from agencies to help out with the backlog.

It also won't make you very popular with the local depot.

I'm sure I speak for all the other posties here when I say it'll be good to get back to the normal routine without all this hanging over our heads

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring! As mentioned slightly earlier in the thread, packets are the only area that's still behind now as they must be sorted by hand so obviously it will take a while for them to all filter through. If it hasn't turned up within a fortnight of being sent you can claim for it as undelivered if you have proof of postage.

Just to say thank you for reassuring me matty, you really helped me calm right down, and low and behold, you were spot on with everything you said, and that the parcel was a week late because it was a small packet. Got held up further because it went through Glasgow, where the wildcat strike was too.

Unlike other's I appreciate the starin you guy's are under, having to wqork longer hours, because of not being able to leave the depot until after ten and such.

Have to say I have, more recently, been ending up with other peoples post. The one item that arrived only had the number "21" in common with the rest of my address

One thing that I got bothered about last week though, and I don't think this was RM btw, was that a delivery driver couldnt be bothered coming down our road so he gave the package to someone else to deliver! Our road is basically closed in the middle, and he must have come in at the wrong end, so instead of going out and coming back around to our end, he just went as far as he could and got someone else (at least 200m or so) to walk to my house with it. Bloody cheeky. I re-iterate though that I don't think that was a RM/Parcelforce company.

Mad Gear is a posty, when mis-deliveries happen people sometimes write that sorta **** on them despite the fact it might have been a temp postman delivering it.

Mad Gear, I wouldn't get caught taking photos like that and if I were you I'd take that pic down

Thing is that they are a small independent music shop and have loads of packets most days. They are always closed when i deliver their mail (which quite often goes out on bulk due to the many packets) but i quite often do them favours and go out of my way, going back with specials instead of leaving a slip.
                              Not anymore.

Sorry mate, totally misunderstood the whole situation, you were in the right then, lol.

Still I felt it was wise not to let people know you had written the stuff on the letter, or had a pic of the letter, glad you edited it out.

                                Sorry for the confusion buddy.
