Wow thats cool, I'm jealous!


Taking a break from essay writing, my head is just mush now btw! I am exhausted, half way through this essay I'm writing on Disney's mechanistic approach to animation and whether it has affected the industry today in a good or bad way! I hate Disney and I hate writing about him and his company. Grrrr!

On a lighter note:

Does anyone know if guaranteed next day deliver from Royal Mail (Silver label, special deliver, you know the one) is still guaranteed to be delivered on a Monday if posted on a Saturday morning? I've been looking on their site and can't find the answer anywhere.

Someone posted me something on Sat morning and it didn't turn up this morning, not showing on the tracking part of the RM's site either Was wondering if it turns up tomorrow if I can tell the sender to claim his money back or not? Or do they class Tuesday as the first day as it was sent on a Sat?

It depends when on Saturday it was posted. If you arrived and finished posting it with the counter staff before the postman came to pick the post up from said Post Office, then it should be guaranteed for the Monday.

Best way to check is to look on the part of the SD label they gave back to you and check what guaranteed delivery date they have written on the back. If it's today's date, then it should have been delivered by 1pm today and you should be able to get a refund.

Also, was it definitely sent by Special Delivery? If it was Recorded Delivery, it wouldn't show up on their tracking system yet

Cheers Dan, it does yeah but I'm the recipient not the poster so I don't have the slip to check against. I have seen a photo of the front of it though and it's def the silver special delivery label with blue writing, says "NEXTDAY guaranteed by 1pm" on it.

I am finding it odd that it's not on the tracking system yet though, makes me nervous!

If if WAS sent special delivery, it should already have been delivered today. Pick-up times at post offices are scheduled throughout the day and to collect everything they have when they close.

Unfortunately it's becoming common for people to use the silver Special Delivery packets as free packaging and then only send the item by regular post. It can be very confusing for us posties at times The item won't enter the Special Delivery stream or be scanned in for tracking etc unless the person pays for SD when they post it.

Ah right, sorry, hadn't noticed that. Can ask the sender to send you a photo/scan of the back as well as the front don't mean squat really (anyone could just fill that out). The back has a dated PO stamp on the back marking the day of postage.

The other thing you could do is try to speak to Royal Mail. Give them a call on 08457 740 740 and speak to a person (don't do the automated tracking over the phone as that's the same as the online one) as they might be able to find out more for you, or they'll at least log that it appears to have gone AWOL!

Matty, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that on Saturday in my town (Paddock Wood, Kent) - the postman will pick up from the PO at about 11am, even though the PO stays open until 12.30pm! Send a special delivery after 11am and it won't get picked up until Monday and is therefore not guaranteed for delivery until the Tuesday. I know it's not supposed to happen like that, but that's the reality
