Oil giant BP says its latest attempt to stop the leak in the Gulf of Mexico has failed, and it will try another technique.
Genuinely getting quite worrying now, the consequences if it can't be stopped are huge. This comment from the BP COO about sums it up:
"This scares everybody, the fact that we can't make this well stop flowing, the fact that we haven't suceeded so far," he said.

Easy to blame an oil company I guess, although in the bigger picture it's us humans and our insatiable demand for oil that are ultimately to blame.
Obama is also sitting on pretty much the only tried and tested solution: use a nuke to collapse the hole. The Russians did it successfully 4 times

I'm guessing the huge explosion, coupled with the immense pressure collapses everything into compacted rubble? So yeah, initially it seems nasty, but in the long run it's a pretty good patch job.
I'm still under the impression that oil, along with anything else deep underground, should be left where it is.Last edited by dataDave; 01-06-2010, 10:38.

I have a couple of weeks off now. Unexpected. I'm knackered (haven't had an actual holiday in a long, long time). Would love to go somewhere but can't really with the kids (one is just too young and totally crazy - it wouldn't be a holiday at all). Can't leave them and go away with the missus because I have nobody to mind them. And none of my mates can take any time off at such short notice.
Feeling a bit trapped.
What do I do?
