Oil giant BP says its latest attempt to stop the leak in the Gulf of Mexico has failed, and it will try another technique.

Genuinely getting quite worrying now, the consequences if it can't be stopped are huge. This comment from the BP COO about sums it up:

"This scares everybody, the fact that we can't make this well stop flowing, the fact that we haven't suceeded so far," he said.
Easy to blame an oil company I guess, although in the bigger picture it's us humans and our insatiable demand for oil that are ultimately to blame.

Obama signed permission for drilling that close to the US coast. He knew it was a risk.

Obama is also sitting on pretty much the only tried and tested solution: use a nuke to collapse the hole. The Russians did it successfully 4 times

I think the weight loss is about the same considering that Bale was an above average muscley fit guy before too & then became a walking skeleton. He then had to bulk up huge for Batman after filming The Machinist.

It depends on how fast your metabolism is. Gaining weight is extremely hard and painful if your metabolism is through the roof. Having to force-feed yourself every two hours isn't enjoyable.

Still, it's better than starving like the majority of the world.

How would a nuke plug the gap instead of just making an enormous hole/destroying the earth?

Maybe they just stick the missile in the hole without actually detonating it?

I'm guessing the huge explosion, coupled with the immense pressure collapses everything into compacted rubble? So yeah, initially it seems nasty, but in the long run it's a pretty good patch job.

I'm still under the impression that oil, along with anything else deep underground, should be left where it is.

I have a couple of weeks off now. Unexpected. I'm knackered (haven't had an actual holiday in a long, long time). Would love to go somewhere but can't really with the kids (one is just too young and totally crazy - it wouldn't be a holiday at all). Can't leave them and go away with the missus because I have nobody to mind them. And none of my mates can take any time off at such short notice.

                            Feeling a bit trapped.

                            What do I do?

Go on holiday and take the Mrs and kids - she probably needs a break as much as you do.

What do you want out of a holiday? For me it's spendind time with my family and make the most of it.

Thing is, one of our kids is an insane toddler - that's okay - but the other is a huge baby who is also insane and can't walk so it's routine, early put downs and buggies for her. Not sure it would be much of a holiday with that one.
