You?ve got to love the nicknames. My personal favourites are ?The Dean of Mean? Keith Jardine, and Shane ? The Engineer? Carwin.

There was an interview with Tom Lawler on a podcast I listen to (Between The Ropes) and he wanted to be called 'peeping' Tom Lawler for this fight but he was announced as simply Filthy Tom Lawler.

His post fight interview is well worth watching his quick strangle fight against CB Dolloway for on the ufc site.

He’s certainly entertaining. Really won me over when he turned up for the weigh-ins with the ‘Just Bleed’ paint.

      Edit:

      haha, found the Lawlor one.

Well Ive started getting into it properly now watched UFC 1-4 last couple of nights and loving it. Great to see how the sport started (even though the comentators are awful) and anything goes bare knuckles etc... Some of the matchups are amazing and its great to see the big sumo guys go down very quickly against the little blokes. Gracie is a machine though and never heard of him till now. Some of its very brutal but just so compelling especially when they have to keep going for the next fight that night all smashed in.

Yeah I watcheda lot of the early ones a few years ago. Still have quite a lot to watch. The tournaments can be watched very quickly too as there is a lot of dead time between fights than can be fast forwarded. Some of the early one round/no time limit bouts last aaaaaages though. Gracie was awesome to watch, yesh!

I see tiny-headed ex WWE, current TNA muscle boy Bobby Lashley has offered out "The Pain". Any thoughts? I doubt now that he is in TNA this will happen, but personally I think Lesnar would destroy him if it did. Lashley can't even get pro wrasslin' right, so I doubt he could live in UFC.

Well, I was looking forward to Affliction 3 with Fedor and Barnett (both ranked 1st and 2nd best heavyweight fight) but Barnett got busted for steroids.

Just read that Affliction what with the above going on is affecting their finances far too much - Affliction have announced that they are cancelling all future Affliction events and that they are going to rejoin UFC as a big sponsor (apparently paying UFC $100k every quarter) to advertise on fighters shorts and so forth.

Dana White looks like he will be getting his wish now and getting Brock Lesnar and Fedor to fight against each other... I can't wait man!

That is good news. Without Affliction Fedor has no where else to go unless he wants to drop in the rankings, and in the meantime (while we wait on his inevitable signing) all the top Affliction guys will be making their way to the UFC - brilliant.

I’ve also read Tito Ortiz (love him or hate him) is about to resign after making up with Dana, so that’s another top guy they’ll have.

Genuinely can’t wait to see the matchups Dana makes once the dust has settled.

                  Exciting stuff.

Unless Lashley goes in there with a steel chair I imagined he’d get man handled. He won't be able to take Brock to the ground (no one has) because he's too small, and if he trys to stand he could get hit with one of those lunch boxes.

Edit: beat me to it. ;p

There's gonna be a massive announcement that Dana White will make on the 31st July and he will be answering to the press all matters MMA related.

My guess is that (besides the obvious about what's happened to Affliction) he will say that he's secured the services and contracts of the rest of the Affliction fighters.

If this is true, Fedor has one fight remaining of his Affliction contract so he will have to answer to the fans and make him fight against Brock Lesner.

As for Tito, Rich Franklin has twittered that they've taken him off the UFC website promoting his fight with Dan Henderson.

My guess is, I'd say that Tito will be fighting Dan Henderson at UFC 103.

Should be interesting to see how many fighters they've already secured (I badly want to see Vitor vs Anderson!), but I don’t think Dana would sign Fedor to a one fight contract. I mean, what happens in the very likely event that he beats Brock? He could just up sticks and leave and Dana would be stuck with a paper champ again. I believe once the deals done we’ll see him in there for a good few fights - I think Randy has already confirmed he’ll be the first UFC guy to step into the octagon (god, I wish they’d use a ring…) with Fedor.

Thank god. The first Franklin, Henderson fight wasn’t exactly a fireworks display. I’m actually quite interested to see either fight Tito, though I’m not sure how well he’ll fair given his last fight was a year and a half ago.

all this Affliction stuff looks interesting. I'd love to see Fedor fight in UFC.

still no word of who will show it in the UK though, rumours seem to point to ESPN who on the plus side have confirmed they will have an HD channel, but on the downside are after £9.99 from existing Sky Sport subs, £12.99 for non SS Subs. Seems a bit steep to me.

Lashley's looked seriously impressive in his MMA career so far. I think he could be a threat to Lesnar at some point, but he's said that he wants to build up a bit more experience in smaller promotions before going to the UFC.

Affliction Trilogy has been cancelled and they've gone out of business.

Fedor has to appear in UFC now. Too bad for him he will have to sign for 3 fights. The only other place to fight is Japan if he wants to make some money now.

As for Lashley, he isn't that impressive. He beat a few nobodies and just about defeated Jason Guida, who is not even in Clay's league. I think any heavyweight in the UFC would beat him at the moment. If we see him in the UFC, it will be in a couple of years though I'd like to see him on Ultimate Fighter.

I'm not upto speed with the Affliction promotion, but how is it that because Barnett is not sanctioned to fight the whole business goes belly up? Have they (Afflicition) been close to going under for a while??

my somewhat simplistic understanding is that Affliction are a fashion brand who thought they could flog a ton of t-shirts off the back of mma promotions, their first couple of events lost a fortune and as they don't have a deep roster this was the final nail in things and they called it all off and are going back to just making clothes.
