Anyone watch last weekends Dynamite 2010 (6 hours and 30 min 15-fight MMA fest!) and UFC 125?

As with last year, I thought the Dynamite card was better than UFC card.

From what I remember it was a mixture of good and not so good but definitely more good than bad.

    Dynamite 2010
    Minowaman should retire.
Sad for me to say this but I was soooo happy to see Shinya Aoki get KTFO by for doing this (disrespectful behaviour) at last years Dynamite 2009

Sakuraba should definitely retire now, he has nothing to prove anymore despite seeing his half hanging ear...

    See vid... http://mixedmartialartvideos.com/mar...10/#more-15453
Alistair Overeem is a ****ing beast. I don't know about his no.1 status as pound for pound best heavyweight in the world though, I'd love to see him in the UFC... Failing that I'd love to see him knockout Fedor.
Michael Schiavello is entertaining as usual, Frank Trigg is so so.

    UFC
Clay Guida was great as usual.
    Nate Diaz was disappointing.
Brandon Vera (Sagat look-alike) should be cut now - I was quite surprised he never got a nose bleed when Thiago Silva completely destroyed his nose!

Frankie Edgar vs Gray Manard was much more entertaining than I would have expected. I also thought Gray may have edged it but the rematch is something I'm quite looking forward to now.
Phil Baroni should go back to gay body building again rather than fighting....

Marcus Davis, it's time he was cut now.
Mike and Joe Rogan are ****ing ace in UFC, I can't imagine UFC without them.
Lastly, Bruce Buffer should stop screaming, he's not in the same class as his brother.

Both vids were pretty shocking tbh.

Quite chuffed to see a lad that I trained with for years win his first featherweight fight before christmas.

Bit of a mismatch between Overeem and Duffee considering the gap in experience. I was going to write about how Overeem needs to fight top 10 competition, but it looks like Strikeforce have already answered that critique with the creation of a Heavyweight tournament.

Some cracking fights in there. Don?t fancy Fedor?s chances against Bigfoot Silva as the guy is too big, basically impossible to knockout, and has solid Jiu-jitsu. Can?t see Werdum taking down Overeem, so Overeem by KO. Josh Barnett just has to get Rogers to the ground for the win - probably a decision. Not overly familiar with Kharitonov but we know Arlovski's has a glass chin, and this guy has KO wins over Semmy Schilts and Overeem - so it?s not difficult to imagine the outcome of that fight.

TUF 13 Coaches Announced: Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos

UFC President Dana White announced today that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and number one contender Junior dos Santos will match wits as the coaches of season 13 of the hit Spike TV reality series.

Following the season, which begins filming this month and begins airing on March 30, Lesnar and dos Santos will then match fists in the Octagon later in 2011.
Should make for a fun season given Brock?s temper.

Brock had a mandatory 6 month lay off due to the stoppage/knockout from his title loss, so it probably fits in nicely to boost viewing figures whilst he's kicking his heels.

Hopefully, after his whipping from Velsaquez, he doesn't go hiding when his opponent starts dropping bombs. Co's you know what, thats exactly what Dos Santos is good at.

            Should be a good fight.

Best UFC card I’ve seen in awhile.

Incredible front kick KO by Anderson. Seemed Vitor did have the edge with his hands but that’s all he had; his hands. Also, Steven Seagal helping him train? Ugh, Seagal practices a useless martial art that doesn’t even work… he would have won regardless.

Sonnen rematch or GSP next? He’s already cemented his reputation as the p4p king so maybe he’ll retire.

The other fights on the card were good. Griffin v Franklin was fun to watch, kind of went all over the show. Displeased to see Jon Jones get a title shot. I can’t stand his attitude; cocky one minute then talking about how humble he is the next - humble people do not constantly talk about how humble they are.

Slight aside from the UFC event, I was watching a pre-fight interview with Bas Rutten and Lesnar’s name cropped up. He confirmed there’s a no punching rule in Brocks camps, so look for him to get KO’d by Dos Santos. ;p

Why does Silva have to be so good?

Ridiculous knockout blow, only he would do something like that. Not sure if there is anyone on the planet, in his weightclass, that can pose any credible threat to his title.

As for Bones, he handled Bader very easily indeed, and Bader is a top tier wrestler too. It'll be an interesting fight with Shogun for sure. Would'nt like to put any money on picking a winner beween those 2, but I'll be hoping for Rua to come through with a ko.

So UFC 127, not a great card but the foreign trips never are.

What did we learn, Bisping is a classless piece of crap and Jon Fitch is the cage fighting equivalent of Stoke City, don't think any fight of his has ever stayed in my memory more than a day after it happened.

                  Comment

Disgusting behaviour by Bisping. Can?t say I?ve ever liked Rivera or understood why he?s a fan favourite (neglecting your kids makes you a popular figure in the UFC?) but he definitely didn?t deserve to be treated like that post-fight. Spitting at his corner on the way out too, surely he's going to get fined?

I hope they stick Bisping in there with Belfort or Sonnen next and he?s given exactly the same level of respect he?s shown others - kind of hoping it?s Sonnen just for the smack talk. ;p

The Fitch fight? was?ugh? I couldn?t even be bothered to watch after the second. I think in a few years when the rules are fleshed out we?ll look back on all of his ?wins? as draws or loses. He does nothing other than lay on top and try to look busy. I hope after GSP destroys him for a second time he?ll call it a career.

Fitch is the grind king of UFC!

I can understand why he turns off a lot of fight fans, but you have to hand it to him, he plays to his strengths.

23-3-1 fight record says that the vast of majority of his opponents don't know how to counter his smoothering style. I don't see why he has to change that to appease the fans.

Surely its the scoring system that needs changing?

                        ?Fitch couldn?t finish a sandwich?

Made me laugh reading that in the comments section on Bloodyelbow. ;p

Not going to argue with that. ;p

I think with Fitch it?s just the frustration factor of seeing him not try to finish. The BJ fight I actually think he won, (sounds like he dominated the third and he won the second) but the rest of his fights? I just wonder how those fights would have gone under a different set of rules. He would still probably have a great record, but I imagine he?d be stood up or soccer kicked (or be finishing fights with soccer kicks) if he fought in Japan.

Going back to Bisping, I know the way he acted was terrible, but reading the blogs I?ve been taken back by how much American?s hate him - it?s beyond ?he?s a bit of a nob, I don?t like him?, he really, really, rubs them the wrong way. I kind of want him to keep winning now just to see their reaction. ;p

                        Edit:

Sounds like Bisping?s next opponent will be all American war hero Brain Stann. God knows what?s going to happen if he wins.

all professional highly paid sport hits the same issue eventually where its participants can't simply get away with winning at all costs, fans/sponsors need to be kept interested as without them there is no pro sport.

if the UFC was full of Jon Fitch's, the EPL full of Stokes, boxing made up entirely of points win jab merchants then all of them would contract and be considerably poorer.

For UFC in particular that is this odd hybrid of WWE with real fighting they won't put up with it for long and Dana White will get the scoring system altered before we see loads of takedown & smother fighters holding the belts.

Bad event really. Is it just me who finds BJ Penn boring? And Bisping. Any event outside the US tends to be a TV special, at best. I want to go to the next London event but not to see Bisping headline.

                            Comment

                              Nooooo, Penn is awesome.

I think maybe watching the Fitch bout skewed your opinion. ;p

BJ has been in lots of great fights over the years against top opposition, and delivered some incredible moments - like the jiu-jitsu clinic he put on in the first Hughes fight. I also appreciate his honesty, like after the Fitch fight he said he thought Fitch won. Same with the Edgar decision.

Bisping's style is a bit off putting at first but I?m starting to find him quite entertaining. He?s all about accumulative damage with punches/kicks at a very high rate, and it?s impressive to see him break down opponents that way - he may be a bit of an arse but he?s a machine in terms of his work-rate/cardio. ;p

I agree, it would be nice for them to broaden the card instead of ?bisping versus?. Personally I?d really like to see Machida fight live. ;p

So would I! Also, throw us a UFC Heavyweight championship match. They'll never give it away like that I know but we could hope.

Or go to Vegas to watch it sometime!
