Sadly Italy is not the UK. There are parts that aren't serviced by ADSL and other that are but limited to 1 or less. My area was limited to 2Mbit since not so long ago: Milan and other big cities are served by proper fiber optics or decent DSL lines, but they are usually expensive VOIP services.
So, yes, I'm happy with my newfound speed.

Mine is a A00 which I've updated to A01 via a firmware upgrade. Can't say I've had any of the issues you've spoken of thus far, fingers crossed eh. I'm using it directly via DisplayPort with my 6850.

Fingers crossed for you too- mine was absolutely ace until it started playing up. As I say, I still miss that screen. Completed Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5 on it, plus it was great to be able to switch over to the PC for some deathmatches in Unreal at the flick of a button.

Anyway, new thing to make me smile- unboxing my Transformer Prime. Haven't had a tablet before- it's on the initial charge right now, which is prolonging the agony of gearlust until I can get my paws all over it.

(@Decider: I was under the impression you can use things during their initial charge, just that you have to make sure the initial charge reaches 100% before you unplug them. I suppose if you start using it it'll be draining the battery a bit which could have an effect...)



I've been using the Apple earphones ever since I got an iPod. They've been pretty good but a bit lacking in the bass department(I'm not a bass nut but a decent amount is often necessary) and a lot of noise gets in. A few years ago I got some Sony ear canal ones and they're nice but I hate the vacuum feeling that comes from plugging my ears like that so they went in the drawer and are only used when flying.

A week or two later I got some Sony groove/fontopia ones and they were lovely once I put the Apple earbud foam around them(prior to that they just felt awful and gave me earache) and sounded very nice(plus they blocked more outside noise than the Apple ones)

They broke a few weeks ago so I bought some JVC marchmallows because they're ear canal ones but made of sponge so would hopefully be more comfortable. They only came with small and medium sponges, no large ones, so they're pretty useless because there's not enough of a seal. Also, the vacuum feeling is still there.

While looking around for alternatives(complys kept popping up but they're around ?15) I found diy guides for making your own tips out of sponge earplugs. I never got round to it but I kept yearning for something that wasn't bunged inside my ear canals and considered picking up fontopias again.

I still like the Apple earphones but they needed to be moved around a bit to get decent bass and would move back if I wasn't sitting still. The key thing is that I always use them with foam covers. Without foam they're just plain stupid and I think people who use them without it are complete idiots* and are missing out. Or their ear canals are too small for the earbuds+foam in which case I'll let them off the hook, but only just.

Then it dawned on me - they're just not big enough for my ears! So I pulled the foams off another pair and put them on so each earbud had two foam covers.

Now they're bloody fantastic.

They cut out more noise than before and are more bassy because they stay in place at the right spot, plus I have use of the remote/mic and they're still as comfortable as ever with no vacuum.

Wish I'd thought of this before and saved myself a lot of hassle and money.

* I realise there are people on here who will likely consider me an idiot for using Apple earphones

Had a few drunken fools around last night and before I went to bed put 2 full sacks of empty bottles/cans/pizza boxes outside the door of the flat to take down this morning. Just gone to do it and someone already took them down! The way my head feels I am the happiest man on earth not to have to make the trip to the bins!

I woke up this morning and decided to see what retro games would look like on a 51" plasma. Jumping Flash still looked ace, but I still need to try it in 3D mode. Also played a bit of Street Fighter Zero 1 & 2. They don't make them that good any more!

Quite a few. Obviously there was no hiding nearly 500 games, but I'm pretty happy with the ones I'm keeping. I really should ip ban eBay.

Spending so much on eBay and then getting buyers remorse is not something I'm used to.
