At my company, every Friday at 3:30 a comedy horn is sounded signalling the start of Ice Cream Friday.

Huge tubs of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream arrive from Baskins, along with various toppings.

And even cones.

People are getting anxious, now.

That gf and I can watch quite a few of my favourite comedies together, like IT Crowd and Peep Show.

Unfortunately, with other things it's hit-and-miss. For example, she didn't get on with Father Ted and Black Books despite being by Linehan. So at times I'm limited with what I can watch lest she be excluded from the hilarity.

However, this weekend I decided to just watch what I want and to hell with whether she got it or not:

Turns out she loved all three and really wants to see all of Help and Iannucci Show. A mate is coming in September so I'll have him bring the rest of my telly DVDs. Might try Brass Eye

I hear people sometimes get stopped at customs if they're carrying lots of DVDs to Japan in case they're pr0n so wouldn't want to put my mate in any tight situations but they're just in a CD wallet and he did buy me an MGS tshirt with metallic paint that kept setting off metal detectors on the way here. Luckily the Abu Dhabi stopover guard was friendly and we had a laugh about it but it could've become quite annoying.

I stopped bringing DVDs to Japan when I realised none of them worked properly. No PAL support, see?

Yeah, my PS3 won't play 50Hz stuff. I was gutted when I found out but then they've no real reason to support 50Hz.

I removed the region lock from my Macbook and that plays UK/US DVDs just fine so it's not a huge deal. I'm also going to buy a PC for watching videos on and running virtual machines so that will be a lot more convenient once we get a TV. Yesterday a shop in Akihabara was selling nice and small 3GHz Dell Optiplexes for 5-10,000Y(no Windows licence). Just like the ones we use here at work.
